A little drunk. [ota]

Stumbling into the hotel, Effie Trinket realized right then and there that she had pulled a Haymitch.  She had used alcohol to try blocking out the pain and now she was drunk.  So drunk that the lobby seemed to be twirling just a bit and she frowned as she wondered how it was Haymitch could stand walking around with the world doing that all the ( Read more... )

There was a bit of a shriek from somewhere off to the side, and then Katherine ducked down just in time to avoid getting hit in the face with a flying stiletto.

"Good Lord!"

Effie startled at the shriek, pausing in trying to get her other shoe off as she looked up with a confused little blink. She had no idea what was going on.

"Are we getting attacked?" She asked with a frown.

"I think I ought to be asking you that!" Katherine huffed a bit, reaching down to pick up the shoe. "Since you threw your shoe at me." Then, she blinked as she looked at it. It didn't look like any shoe she'd ever seen before.

"I'm not attacking anyone." She seemed confused by that because what could she really do in a fight? She was only an escort for the Tributes.

"I did? Oh." She blinked. "I'm terribly sorry, I didn't realize. I was just...annoyed with it."

Served Jack right for not paying attention as he walked through the hotel lobby. The shoe hit him right in the temple and he winced, "Ow!"

The man who could never die taken out by a shoe, "Watch where you're throwing those things! Assault with a deadly weapon."

She could have poked an eye out with those pointy heels!

The yelp made her look up sharply and then she blinked a little as she tried to make the man come into focus, swallowing a bit.

"Well...you should have dodged!" She huffed then, shaking her head at him. "I wasn't trying to hit you."

She muttered something about rude people as she went back to working on her other heel but her fingers kept fumbling over the clasp.

Rubbing his temple he reached down for the shoe and made his way over to the woman. Someone liked the makeup.... he breathed in-- and the booze, apparently.

He set the shoe down next to her. Jack was the one hit with the shoe and he was the rude one? But she was drunk, so that reasoning probably didn't mean much to her.

"Want me to help you with that one--" he gestured to the other shoe she was trying to get off, smiling at her, "So you don't hurt anyone else?"

Normally she would be nicer but right now she didn't even care enough to use her own manners.

Her strange eyelashes fluttered a bit as she blinked up at him again, struck by his boyish smile. "I'm..." Sitting up, she nodded as she held up her foot, showing off one shapely leg as she did so. "Yes, please."

... She'd thrown things at advisors from time to time, when they were particularly annoying.

It was something else entirely when the shoe hit the wall behind her. It managed to hit a vase, too. What a good shot.

"... If this were a contest, I'd award you first prize for such impeccable aim." Especially since the woman seemed a little... out of sorts.

Effie looked up at the woman standing nearby, her long lashes fluttering in surprise. "Aim?" She glanced over to where her shoe was on the floor and she wrinkled her nose.

"Did I hit you?" She asked, blinking still though she didn't look overly worried.

"No, but you managed to take out a vase. It's a good shot. I imagine if you hit me, I'd be more angry."

This woman had the most extraordinary clothes. She had no idea people even dressed so ornately here. It gave her hope, really. When she'd been told so often that people didn't do such here.

"I suppose that makes sense." Effie agreed on the part that the woman would probably be more angry if she had been hit with the shoe.

Eyeing the other woman after a moment, she made a motion. "I like your dress."
