OCM Day 16 (three-odd months after the fact, I know)
Social Circle
Pick a small running circle that exists in your set of original characters. Today we're working on how the social circles work, or at least one of your social circles works.
Rightio, I was thinking about doing my OE three + Gloria, but that struck me as a bit dumb. And a little Golden Trio. So I'm going to do the band. Even though I totally have no idea how Johnny works within the little group... >,>;; Obviously this must be remedied. For the time being I'll just do my lot of the band, seeing as I somehow seem to have three out of four members.
1. Who in the circle is the designated leader of the pack?
Fully Dai. She started it, she's the most excited/motivated so she organizes stuff, Jules and Brendan kind of defer to her.
2. How did the set of friends come to be an official/unofficial group?
Dai wanted to make a band and enter Rockquest. So she enlisted Brendan, her best friend and a drummer, and went looking for other instruments. Johnny answered her open call for players and joined the band. Jules didn't notice that, but heard about her band later (probably through the grapevine) and volunteered because he likes her.
3. What does the circle do? (Do they just hang out or do they have some sort of purpose for being a group beyond friendship alone... which is obviously just as important as an actual goal/purpose?)
They're a band, man. A band that needs a name. They write and play music. They're entering the Smokefree Rockquest competition and Dai and Brendan are in it to win. (Actually Brendan was in it because he was just going along with what Dai was doing out of lack of anything better to do but he's actually gotten really into it.)
4. Who in the circle is the one who cheers everyone up or makes sure everyone's having a good time?
Brendan. Even though he's caught Dai's competitive spirit now, he joined for the hell of it, so he wants to make sure everyone's into what they're doing otherwise it's not going to be fun.
5. Who in the circle is the advice giver?
Juuuuulian.
6. If any of the circle was to ever cause a problem for the group, who would it be and what would they do to cause the circle to possibly break up?
Jules has his eyes on Dai. Dai would never (in the foreseeable future) see him that way, so if he started actively going after her she might well chuck him out if she thought it was interfering with the music. Not to mention Brendan is not overly fond of either of the other two boys; Jules because they're in completely different crowds that don't mix, Johnny because he eats cereal. I mean, because of Elle's reaction to that news article about him and Inari. As much as he thinks he's over it, his first impression was a bad one.
7. Are there any romantic involvements in the circle? Were they spawned because of the circle or do you think they would've happened even if the social circle never got set up?
No actual involvements but there are certainly a couple of crushes people don't know about: Jules likes Dai likes Brendan. I can see Johnny seeing exactly what's going on :P while Brendan knows that Jules likes Dai but is completely oblivious to Dai liking him. It's more the circle spawned because of the triangle - Dai liked Brendan before she got him into the band, Jules offered to be in the band because he likes Dai.
The Gang

- Talk about the mechanics of the group briefly, listing each member of the social circle and what their importance to the others is beyond the answers already laid out in the questions above.
I have miraculously started a drawing. Naturally, Brendan looks like a girl.
