Guide to grades, as written by one Calix Nielsen:
N: Not Achieved = failed, baby. why are you even taking this subject? (but because my Muses sitting NCEA all seem to be really brainy, no one failed anything)
A: Achieved = passed. good, but not great
M: Merit = passed really rather well. dude! you rock!
E: Excellence = we bow at your feet and shower you with flowers
