Sooooo here's what new with me:
1) I started my work term today. My first placement is at the QEII hospital, in the dialysis unit. My first day went well, my preceptor seems really great, but I'm nervous as hell to actually start doing "real work"... ahhh! I have to do 2 case presentations to my peers, as well as two in-services which I present to nurses, residents, etc. I'm probably going to have nightmares about these presentations... I hate public speaking... but hopefully since I'm doing so many, I'll get used to it? I hope so.
2) Dan has moved away to Moncton :( I am happy for him and his new job, which he starts tomorrow, but I am also sad that he is away. Luckily, his schedule allows him every second weekend off, so he'll get to come down and visit me
3) I have been going to the gym regularly for the past 3 months! Woo! And I'm starting to see results. I dropped 5 pounds over the first 2 months, and in the past few weeks I've dropped another 2 pounds or so. This is the FIRST time I've worked out and actually lost weight. And I feel so strong! I can do 22 "real" push-ups right now, and I can actually run on the treadmill for 15 minutes or so! This may not seem like a lot, but this is coming from a girl that couldn't even do one push-up, let alone run on the treadmill when I first started out. Yay! :)
4) I bought some skates and a helmet so I can go skating every once in awhile... I'm supposed to go with my sister on Tuesday nights but she needs to purchase a helmet first... but I'm excited to go! I haven't been in 6 or 7 years, at least.
5) I go to Toronto on Wednesday for Professional Development Week! Woo! It's an event held every year for Canadian pharmacy students, and we have lectures/workshops during the days, and social events at night. I stay until Sunday night... it should be a fabulous time... I can't wait! :)
6) I'm most likely purchasing a car over spring break. I'm terrified of having to drive around Halifax, but my second work placement is in Spryfield, which is the "bad" part of town. So, unless I want to risk waiting for the bus by myself in the dark after my shifts finish, or pay $40-50 in cab fares every day, I need to get a car. I need a car anyway for my job that starts in June, so I suppose it's something that I would have been purchasing in the next 6 months anyway, but I'm scared! I've never driven in a city as big as Halifax...
Well, that's my little blurb for the day!
