this is very exciting. they voted on a referrandum june 3rd and declared independance from Serbia. i was in the shithole capital about 2 years ago waiting for a bus to Bosnia after Serbia kicked us out and sent us back to Kosovo. Oh, memories! for more, read on here:

in other exciting news East Timor's (now the Second newest country in the world as of 2002 after Montenegro) Prime Minister just resigned after much internal strife AND the predominantly Armenian enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh are finally allowed to have a referrandum on whether they should become a part of Armenia proper or Azerbaijan. anyone who wants to read more on that can go here:
