Linden can only be described as pleased by his addition to Morgause's household, as assassin and doer of odd jobs--not officially, because between two people who tell the open truth as little as Morgause and Linden do, these things do not get expressly discussed; but he knows his new mistress, and he's satisfied by the arrangement.
And he is adding to his satisfaction by walking, as he likes to do, in the garden. The old double wound in his stomach necessitates using his walking cane for more than decoration on this particular day, but he's in very high spirits, and it's obvious because you cannot for one second look at him and think he's anything but healthy, and yet he's had nightmares again for the last week.
