Heartlessed Review: The Dark Knight Rises

Aug 05, 2012 13:50

Ah, The Dark Knight Rises. The finale to the most successful comic book-adapted franchise (Avengers fans can take a seat). It's been almost half-a-month since it premièred; weeks since I saw it in theatre. Surely I have a lot to say about it, being a big fan of its two predecessors. So how will I review it, maybe talk about how Christopher Nolan trying to give this one a different style than The Dark Knight? Talk about how our hero Bruce Wayne/Batman evolved? Do a little comparison between Joker and Bane (who is kind of like an anti-Joker villain)? Discuss just how much is its plot mirroring the real life? Nolan's political message? All that jazz?

The thing is, after I walked out of theatre, I sat down on my computer, I open WORD and start writing, and I just can't get a satisfying thing out of it.
To put The Dark Knight Rises in one sentence, it's awesome.

Yup
Awesome to the point I can't even review it. I am speechless. I feel like no matter how many analysis I slap on this film, it won't stop how good, great, awesome, amazing, abso-freakin'-lutely fantastic it is. Sure, it may be not a classic. But in my humble opinion the term classic does not equate to enjoyable. There are films that are termed classic, and you admit it is, but you just don't want to watch ever again. Then there are films that you can just watch over and over again. To me, The Dark Knight Rises belongs to latter.
Maybe someday, when I have the heart, time and ideas to do it, I will try to do a through review. Break it down, talk about its goods and flaws (yes, there are flaws. But they constitute no obstacle to enjoying). For now, I just want to thank Chris Nolan. For bringing a breath of fresh air into not just Batman, but the comic-adaptation films as well. Like what Ras al-Ghul said, it has become more than just a franchise. It has become a legend.
