Do you ever get so nervous that you are unable to think?

*haughty laugh* I cannot stop thinking. It as normal a function to me as breathing. I cannot think of a single instance where I have been unable to think. Even in more personal circumstances it is within my best interests, and more so in the interests of others, to keep my wits about me.

If you disagree with someone do you tell them or keep quiet?

I somehow doubt that it is even necessary for me to answer this question.

Then why are you doing so?

Dramatic emphasis. You would understand this if you have ever worked in the theatre.

Whatever. If you could dance with anyone in the world right now, who would it be?

Irene Adler, if only to understand her enough that I could not be foiled so easily by her again. You can divine a great many things about a person from observing their dancing.

If you were not where you are at this moment, where would you be?

Do you mean this physically or psychologically? *interviewer shrugs*. You will never do well with yourself if you cannot be exact. The logician always expects precise facts and exact detail.

I’m not a logician. I’m an interviewer. Answer the question, please.

Since you ask so nicely, albeit generally, I shall answer in both fashions. If I were not sitting in my favourite chair in my sitting room at 221B Baker Street I could be found a great many places. If I’m on a case that could be anywhere in this great city. If I am not I could easily be out with Watson for a stroll, out with Watson for dinner, or out with Watson at that interesting play that I was coerced into missing in order to give this blasted interview.

He picked up tickets for the next showing, Mr. Holmes. You and I both know that he’s meeting you at his club at half seven; that is in one hour. If you stop interrupting you can make the show on time. Do you own a gun?

*tersely* Yes. I, however, rarely carry it myself. I leave such things to the good doctor and his army training.

Do you live in this world or a world of your own making?

*snort* Really, what sort of question is that? I exist quite firmly in this world, thank you all the same.

Do you sleep alone?

*raised eyebrow* Now I believe we are prying, madam. It is no business of yours or anyone else as to whom I sleep with or not.

So that’s a no?

That is a refusal to answer the question.

*prolonged silence*

Last question, Mr. Holmes. Do you prefer to be a homebody or to see the world as much as possible?

I enjoy what travelling my profession affords me but, I find, I greatly prefer London over anywhere else I’ve seen or have been given the opportunity to see. It is familiar to me, I know her nuances and her bright spots and dark spots. I am, in manner of speaking, quite intimate with this city, and do not rejoice in leaving it for prolonged periods. *rises* Now, as you recall, I have an appointment to keep with Doctor Watson.

Of course, sir. Thank you for your time.
