Castiel did not know the first thing about making a bracelet. He thought of the leather strap Dean wore, the cord, and the cord around his neck that held the amulet. The closest he could come to such things were his own shoelaces. He gazed down at them morosely. They would not do.

Patrick was wandering past the Box room on his way to the kitchen for something to nibble on, whistling with his hands stuffed into his slacks pockets. He stopped, abruptly, then backtracked a few steps when he recognized a familiar dark head.

"Well hello there, angelface." He grinned at Castiel, tilting his head. "Are you trying to coax miracles out of the Box?"

When Dean had seen the sort of clothing Castiel wore when left to his own devices (or, especially when Luna decided to help) he had intervened and stocked Castiel up on clothing he approved of. A shirt over another shirt, sometimes a henley, a lot of times flannel. Castiel hadn't minded, of course.

"I do not believe it is capable of such things," Castiel said, gazing, wide-eyed and glum, over at Patrick. "I want to make my friend a bracelet. He said we should get some, because we are friends."

Patrick's golden eyebrows rose both at the glum look on Castiel's face, and his explanation. His own blue eyes narrowed as he considered the situation, "You mean, like friendship bracelts?"

"I suppose," Castiel said after a moment's thought. He tugged at the hem of his shirt, trying to recall Dean's instructions. "He said the colors should be green, brown, and black."

"Ah-hah ... well then yes, you will not be able to make them from the box. You're going to need to find some colored thread and -- " He tilted his head, curiousity curling over his expression. "Castiel, am I right in assuming you do not know how to make friendship bracelets?"

Castiel laughed a little, but only because the whole thing was absurd. Sometimes he marveled at the life he had here. He imagined Uriel and himself making each other bracelets, and the smile never quite left his face. "With what spare time I ever had, and there was very little, it was not spent making bracelets, no."

"Ye-ah, probably not much time like that when you're strumming on harps." Patrick's grin took a wicked tinge, before he gestured. "Come with me, Angel. Today, we teach you arts and crafts."

"I have never had a harp," Castiel groused, but did follow Patrick. Patrick was bound to know more on the subject than him.

"No harp! I feel like all my conception about angels are being shattered. Do you still have fluffy wings?" Patrick joked, as he disappared into the rec room and went hunting for thread. "You're looking for embroidery thread.

"We never did," Castiel said, indignant. He shadowed Patrick closely, still struggling with issues like personal space.

"Am I to sew it? I don't know how," he admitted.

"No harps, no fluffy wings. False advertising abounds." Patrick mused as he found the rec room and starting searching for embroidery thread - there was some around here somewhere. He'd seen it when he had torn the room apart for liquor. "You're looking for thread that's thicker than normal, Castiel. Should be a box of it around here somewhere."

"Have you read the Bible?" Castiel asked, distracted now as he began to search for the fabled embroidery thread. He carefully moved things aside, looking behind books, under couch cushions.

"Would it be too much of a pun to say, 'not religiously'?" Patrick's smile quirked as he kept going through the shelves meticulously.

"A pun?" Castiel echoed, wondering if that meant no, or that he had and he just wasn't religious.

"A pun, a play on words that's a joke." Patrick said, waggling his fingers as he bit on his lip, before he grinned. "Ah-hah, found it. C'mon, angel, pull up some sofa. I'll show you how to make top-notch friendship bracelets."

"Oh. Does that mean you aren't religious?" Castiel wondered. He returned to Patrick, giving the thread an interested look before sitting down on the sofa as instructed. He liked to learn about the human culture, it was so complex and fascinating, even such a small thing as bracelet making.
