I realize at this point that trying to defend myself would be pointless, as all complaints are quite grounded and make sense. Let it be known that I acknowledge my shortcomings, and that this is an explaination and therefore does not refute or excuse any offenses. I'll admit right off the bat that my choice of words was wrong, and I do apologize for it. Having been lovingly called a fag most of my life perhaps made me make the incorrect assumption that such slurs were allowed to be used in jest. I also assumed that, since the fic used the term, that I was allowed in response. I was wrong, it seems. Next, I would like to address the second complaint and, again, explain the resoning behind it. I meant not to shame any woman who enjoys sex; rather, I was drawing a comparison between the portrayal of the character in the story versus her canonical personality. The two simply did not mesh, and the term used was used to point out the vast discrepency in character. Had this been an original tale, with new, original characters, such a complaint would not have been voiced. That, again, is my resoning when writing, not an excuse.
I suppose that, taken from a certain point of view (which, incidentally, seems to be the majority view) my spork does come across as rather offensive. However, I never meant for this to be anything other than comedy. My personal views had nothing to do with it; I was simply doing what I always do and pointing out inconsistencies with character writing. I was not attacking any ideals of femmenism, nor was I attempting to preach any sort of views on sexuality; I was just writing jokes. Bad jokes, as they turned out to be, but jokes with no malice behind them. This whole thing was written with (as close to a spork can get) good intentions. But, then, we all know what the road to Hell is paved with.
The above was an explaination, not an apology. To finish this off, I am going to at least attempt a proper apology. It may not seem like much, but I am afraid it is all that I can think to do. I am sorry. I never meant to offend, insult, or demean the views held by anyone within or without this community. I never meant to attack the sexual freedoms of women, though I did, and for that I am sorry. If there is any problem left unadressed, please, feel free to let it known. It seems that the feelings of the readers were not spared, so please do not try to spare mine. I am sorry, and I hope that an incident like this will not happen again. Thank you.
