as i should have expected, i care less and less about updating this journal. i am aware that i start nearly every entry with a similar apology, followed by a promise to update more often. i'm trying.
so. school's over. T's retirement luncheon and last concert went very well. it was slightly stressful because i travelled on weldon road 6 times through the course of the day, but it was justified so i won't complain. stace and i cried and it was pretty funny, but i'll really miss T. i loved the music we played, too. my solos did some justice to the pieces, so i was happy.
so i took 5 finals in two days, which was really fun. i didn't really care, but that's probably because i didn't realize how potentially stressful that was until it was too late to massively study for anything anyway. i did decently, so i don't care.
in case you missed my last entry, i went to girls state from june 19th-24th. that was fun. basically, i spent a week at georgian court university in lakewood eating pizza, chicken nuggets, and ice cream for a week. i'm kidding. breakfast was normal, but lunch and dinner seriously consisted of nothing more appetizing than those 3 items. anyway, girls state wasn't about the food, obviously. in case you don't know what girls state is, it's basically a hands-on government experience for 460 girls in new jersey that are all smart, extremely involved, and destined for great things. whatev. anyway, the girls are divided into 10 cities, and those cities do some campaigning and elections of city positions -- mayor and councilwoman (i was elected to one of those 5 positions)-- who appoint their fellow citizens to positions. 2 cities make a county, and there are more elections on the county level. i ran for and was elected to county surrogate, woot. finally, all 10 cities make up the state, and senators and assemblywomen are sent from each county annd the governor is chosen. blah blah blah, i didn't even explain all of it, but you should be able to understand a little.
the best part of the whole experience wasn't playing government for a week, of course; it's actually pretty boring because it's all meetings and listening to speeches, etc. i'm sure that real government with real issues and such is a little more exciting, but it just wasn't super fun. meeting and becoming good friends with most of the girls in my city was definitely the best part. i haven't spoken to most of them since the last day, but hopefully we'll stay in touch and meet up again sometime. we had a whole little crew going and it was really cute.. i love my roosevelt girls!
