Rinoa ficlet
OOC: I have had this bouncing around in my head ever since we did our scene. I'll lock it for now just because I know our part with Rin/Cid/Ramza hasn't really "happened" yet. After that is posted then I'll unlock it so that everyone else can read it...Perhaps if you all like it enough I'll post it in the community. I warn you, it's sappy, but that's just how I'm feeling about now. :P
The sky was as black as velvet. Stars dotted the space like thousands of diamonds in the fine cloth. But it's beauty failed to move Rinoa, for she had other thoughts in her mind. The young woman stared at the stars unseeing, only seeing one thing in her mind.
"Seifer..." She whispered softly and sadly.
She was supposed to be asleep, for she was to take watch after Ramza. She had slept a little, but disturbing dreams had plauged her and awoken her many times. Instructor Cid Highwind had taken the first watch and had forced her to bed like a father. She smiled at that small comfort. He may have a gruff exterior, but he is a kind man inside. She turned her head to look over to him and she saw he had fallen asleep, holding his spear. Glancing to her other side, she saw that Ramza was still asleep in his tent. Rather than wake Ramza, she decided to take the next watch because she was already awake.
She got up and put more logs on the fire, being careful not to awaken the others. She sat next to the blaze and looked again to the sky.
Hyne, if you have any mercy, I pray that you will keep my knight safe.
Seifer had been her strength and support ever since the SeeD exam. She could easily recall all the times the other cadets had harrassed her for being a sorceress. He had always come to her defense handing out punishments that Rinoa thought sometimes a little severe.
Then there was the night of the SeeD ball. A slight blush crept to her face as she rememberd that night. Perhaps she'd indulged a little too much...but she didn't regret anything. She loved him more than anything.
And now, he's off in those ruins being controlled and manipulated again. Seifer, please be safe...
Tears started down her face, and she did nothing to stop them. In her heart she wanted to belive that Seifer would be ok, but she knew that it was a possibility he was not.
"Rinoa, are you ok?" A voice spoke quietly.
Started out of her thoughts she turned to see Ramza standing beside her. She wiped the tears from her eyes and said nothing. She only nodded and went back to her tent.
Before she went inside though, she planted a gentle kiss on her fingertips and blew it towards the sky, hoping it would reach her knight.
