Exams and Pet Surgery

On Wednesday evening I was on the border of crumbling; I had an exam the next morning, and those of you who were talking to me at the time will know that I was on the edge. I had studied earlier in the week for the computer security exam and I felt really confident about it, however, after I then studied for and sat the exam for Distributed Information Management I seemed to completely forget everything else I'd tried to remember. lil_runningdeer 's technically minded other half kindly answered my "WHERE DO I PUT THE FIREWALL?!" questions in e-mail and explained that the past paper questions were awkwardly worded which gave me a bit of support.

Despite this support, and a lengthy sobbing phone call to my mother, at 11pm I phoned a friend who lives nearby and asked her to just listen to me while I vented my frustrations about the world.

You see, on Thursday it wasn't just my Last Exam Ever, but also the day Sitka (my bunny) and I would have to travel to guiltyin_design's for a morning anasthetic appointment at Susie's vet the next day. Kara listened to me venting and then ordered me to a bath then bed instead of studying more. I acknowledged when she suddenly said to me: "Do you want me to come over? You don't sound OK." I declined the first time and then she brightly said "I need someone to straighten my hair. I'll be there soon!" Sign of a true friend, right?

She came over and made me write on my notepad "I WILL pass my exams.", we gossiped, straightened her hair and people watched. It was enough to distract and relax me so I slept that evening.

The exam went better than I thought. We were all nervous about the exam so it was nice to be pleasantly surprised by the lack of curveball questions in the paper.

Afterward i went for some post-exam wine, being careful to not drink too much before I went back home to collect Sitka and - armed with wine and chip and dip - travelled to Susie's flat to spend the evening.

This morning Sitka went to the vet for her surgery. I promptly came home and cleaned to stop myself from keeping too close an eye on the phone. I was to call the vet at 1pm and I'm ALWAYS terrified that the vets will call me beforehand - it's never good news when they do.

But at 1pm she was fine. She did have some painful spurs on her teeth that have been removed and we've got some ivermectin for some ear mites in the ear by her deformed leg that's always caused her problems. It took her a while before she ate anything back at the flat, but she's since had a nibble at hay and stuffed her nose into the water dish so I'm not too concerned about her yet.

I've finished uni!!!!
