Ok, so I'm on Manhunt, the gay dating site, and I send a message of interest to this one guy who's pretty nice-looking and evidently works out a lot or something. I figured, 'Sure, why not?" Some time later, the guy sends me the following reply:
I don't think of myself as all that or pompous, and no offense to you man..... but you are not near my league at all.
You are short, out of shape, and have gay leather all over you.
Did you really think I would be interested in you?
Really think before you message someone. Again, no offense, but I felt I needed to tell you so you would get a clue.
Care to guess how old the guy is?
18? Nope.
20? Wrong again.
25? Warmer, but not quite.
Give up?
Drumroll, please. badumbadumbadumbadumbadumbadum The correct answer is...28!
That is right, ladies and gentlemen. At the age of 28, two years shy of the big 3-0, this guy actually feels the need to click the "Reply" button and type out a message to tell me that I'm not in his league, why I'm not, and that I should "think before I message someone." Honestly, though, I really can't be hurt or offended by such statements because, in sending his reply, the guy automatically lowered himself in my eyes.
What puzzles me, though, is seeing this behavior from a guy of his age. If it were an 18 year old, I'd understand; it'd be shameful still, but at least it would be understandable. And, I find myself wondering, is this a new form of age play that I haven't heard of? Where grown men act like petty and narcissistic teenage boys?
Seriously, if the guy wants to explore his little side that badly, let's get him some coloring books, GI Joes, and footie pajamas. Also, I know a fellow who'd probably love to diaper him. That way, he could still be immature -- but maintain respectability in the process! ;-)
P.S. Yes, I am well aware that, on the Internet, this kinda stuff is part of the territory.
