The Ending
Summary: Mytho-centric post-series one-shot. 1007 words.
The problem with stories, Mytho decided, was not precisely that they ended. )

Now that I have read the fic, and liked that very much, I have a nagging feeling I should actually watch this too. And also because of the Princess Tutu - Nanne Grönvall video..
At least it's not something with over 200 episodes, I'll have to find the time somehow..

And, if you want to not be a pirate, you can get The Entire Series in one box set. [This site has it for about 12$ less than everywhere else, AND you get free extra stuff just for buying anything. *pimps*]

It's a very good show.

Ooh! That site has potential to cause severe injuries to my already strained economy. *wants*

Well, definitely go there for all your anime/manga stuff [I indirectly know the woman who runs it, so, yay, supporting people we kinda know exist!]. They even do requests if something you want isn't in the catalog.

I hope you don't mind me popping in, someone on fandomsecrets pointed this out for Mytho/Rue fans...

What a tragic, beautiful story. I like fics that add a bit of 'reality' into Princess Tutu's pairings, like Rue's miscarriages (poor Rue!) and her eventual death. I can actually see things turning out this way--Mytho's quite capable of angst. (As much as Rue and Fakir, actually.)

I'm a little surprised that they didn't keep in contact with Fakir and Ahiru, though--I've always thought Mytho would keep in contact with them. IMHO.

Yeah, erm, that was totally me. *totally pimped herself out with no shame*

Anyway - thank you! I'm glad you liked the realism, and the story overall! I agree with the angst assessment: really, all four of them have HUGE potential for angst and woe [even Ahiru, who'd try really really hard to hide it, which she does really well]. Immortal Mytho especially, outliving everyone in a story without end.

Erm, to explain: At the end of the series - when we got to see teenage Mytho hanging out with younger versions of Rue and Fakir - my assumption was that Mytho, even at the end of the story, is accidentally immortal. He's a character in a story, after all, and unless they're killed off "on-screen" the characters live forever. Rue - a late and accidental addition to the story - wasn't. Thus, angst. It's not particularly clearly stated in this story that that's what's going on here, but...Sometimes we lose contact with the people most important to us and not even realize it for years and years. [But yes, they probably would really keep ( ... )

Haha, hooray for fandomsecrets. And thank you!

I was afraid that what was really going on was way, way too vague - I'm not sure if *I* would have caught it had I not written it myself - but to hear that you did? Makes me very happy.

The final line - the 'if they have not died, they're still alive' - is actually the traditional closing line for German fairy tales. There's no guarantee of happiness in that, only that they could be alive.

Thank you for enjoying it! ^_^

Oh, this is so bittersweet. I love that Mytho loves Rue so much and that Rue almost can't love him as much, because of her own pain. Mytho is a characiture even now, even though his feelings are real, but because he is a written character he can be perfect in ways that no one else can be ... to the point of not aging, that is awful. ;____; And not having children seems ... poetically accurate.

His assumption about Fakir is ... yeah. woah.

I like the conclusion Mytho comes to about endings. 'Ever after', indeed. *hugs him*

Beautiful and whimsical in the same way as the series itself! ♥
