Sight the King - chapter 17
Summary: After Yuugi wakes up at the scene of a crime with blood on his hands and a voice in his head, there's only one thing he can do: Run.
I'm, erm, trying to actively make this not have a super-depressing woeful ending. It would break too many hearts (not the least of which would be mine, and dark Yuugi's if I were going with my original shitty rushed ending of fail).
"kthx" is always Abridged-Kaiba to me now.
Re, Cliffhanger Business: Next chapter, however... has I think the best one in the story period. *spoils*
Now stretch that out to "augh this is all I'm thinking/writing/reading about for two months augh," and you'll be in my camp.
Re: Anzu: She doesn't know there are two Yuugis at this point. She's not differentiating between them. She's just realized that sometimes when Yuugi feels confident his voice doesn't sound as weak, which means Yuugi's the one who saved her from the criminal, so it was Yuugi all along that she'd secretly liked. Meaning: To Anzu, there is no 'Yami' - there's only her childhood friend Yuugi, who she's discovered has not only saved her life, but is also someone she essentially betrayed. These are serious bad times for her. [or - Hey! I like Anzu!! I don't mean to bash her at all, so I'm hoping no one really reads it that way...]
Oh! I didnt mean it quite like that. I'm not trying to bash Anzu, I just dont want her to come between Yami and Yuugi (though that'll never happen). I guess I've been influenced by all the other Anzu bashing fics that it clouded my judgement. ^^
A: Especially in Japan, where the conviction rate is super high, but everyone knew that's how it had to go down anyway. Re OCs: I'm SO GLAD people like my OCs, yaaay.
B: RESEARCH AT THE LIBRARY = win. This is why there's actually a whole debate over whether Hikari killed herself or not [there's a checklist for throat-slicing], and reading up on ballistics made me go "OMG, Yay for science!" re: powder burns and bullet etchings, things I did *NOT* know about to start with.
C: Multiple reunions! I guess that could have been the real title. Shizuka: The good news is that, in the manga timeline, Duelist Kingdom would not have yet happened, so she's not actually blind yet. Preventative measure is all. AND, because the Sasori family is so flipping rich and the estate's being divided up, it's very likely that the Jounouchi/Kawai families will have enough to spring for her operation anyway. Thus her line "I hope I’ll actually get to see you soon,I think Shizuka would, at first, be utterly devastated, but I think she

You'd jump your boyfriend too if him showing up at your house was your only indication that he wasn't going to get killed for crimes he didn't commit. I'm sure most people would. =D
Hooray for not studying for finals! Hahaha, that's exactly what I was thinking when I wrote most of this, too. And also, "hooray, ditching class for two weeks straight!" >_> yes. Bad role model is I.
your characterization just seems so spot-on to me. (Your Anzu doesn't make me want to yank my hair out!--no one is ever nice to her.)
Yaaaay. I like Anzu, I really do, and I was upset that the story called for her to be in such badly lit situations - the newspaper and the party, - so I tried my absolute best to make her seem like more of a victim of circumstance than the fandom bitch. I'm really glad she didn't turn out that way to you. [p.s., her interaction with Honda in the second chapter was one of my favorite parts to write. "Vampires, Honda-kun?"]
Research = thankfully, only one full day at the library in the forensics/criminal law section. I'm glad so many people like the trial, considering both how much time it took and how much I absolutely hated writing it (because it was challenging and

And, yay! I'm glad them reuniting [again] worked well for you - now that both of them realize that GAH ABSENCE SUCKS.
>_> They need humorous moments, because otherwise, oh, so much angst.
