Sight the King - chapter 6
Summary: After Yuugi wakes up at the scene of a crime with blood on his hands and a voice in his head, there's only one thing he can do: Run.
Hooray! And this is, really, a 'filler' chapter, to be honest. That even this is enjoyable makes me happy.
I should seriously be in charge of naming small businesses everywhere. Their profits would explode under my ridiculously awesome long names.
... yes. exactly. i was not consciously going for this, but this is so my reason now. XD I love when you point out awesome things like this that I hadn't even noticed. Accidental good writer, yes.
"Inadvertently"? ... We'll see.
Yes, yes, repeatedly yes. A friendship speech would do them both so much good right now.
^_^ Actually, Yuugi tipped the odds into his own favor, but the Panda didn't catch that. Basically, if you ignore the whole first-card bit, and you have three cards (we'll say two black and one red), and you have to draw the red one? If you pick a card, and have the dealer flip over a black one you didn't pick, it's still 1-in-3 that the card you initially picked was red, but if you switch to the other card your chances that that card is red go up to 1-in-2. Yay statistics!
After that argument with Yuugi in the restaurant, the fact they can actually communicate now, and that Yuugi's actually disabled when he's 'awake in the back,' the other Yuugi knows that just randomly taking over at this point would probably be very distressing to Yuugi. Especially if Yuugi did not willingly give up control in the first place.
Other Yuugi totally got burned.
Oh, I had hoped that the scene in the hospital would have answered this, but here goes the more in-depth explanation: When dark Yuugi is 'outside' of Yuugi's head - either as ghost!Yuugi or shadow!Yuugi - then he's no longer in Yuugi's head and can't read his thoughts.
The upside is when dark Yuugi is 'outside,' he's able to see and sense things that Yuugi can't: vibrations on the ground, distant noises, things Yuugi can't physically see due to obstacles or orientation. The downside is Yuugi actually has to be able to *see* dark Yuugi for dark Yuugi to be able to communicate. This is why Yuugi has to, at the very least, whisper if he wants shadow!Yuugi to hear him.
(I hope I didn't accidentally have Yuugi think to his shadow while his shadow was out, and have his shadow respond. Dammit, must check for this.)
Grass stains are on other people's shoes in the pile - Yuugi finds it odd that anyone would go across so many districts to get to this motel (Titan is HUGE. Yuugi's only here because it's right next to the waterfront/"the Marsh"). Whoops.
Dark Yuugi really needs to work on his people skills.
