If you just heard a loud celebratory "WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" just now that was probably me because according to Mediabase.com, Alter Bridge officially have a #1 single on their hands. They currently stand at the top of the Active Rock chart with "Isolation":
All I have to say is that it's about TIME they reached #1 status here, in the United States, on their home turf. And it only took them three albums, three record labels, and seven long years to get there. This is monumental for anyone who calls themselves an Alter Bridge fan and knows of the struggles the boys have had over the years. You can't tell us that this isn't a turning point for the band because it sure as hell is. The Alter Bridge movement has begun, people.
Their success is growing so rapidly that although they'll be releasing their second single ("I Know It Hurts") shortly, they're going to hold off on releasing that (or even a different single) in the States because "Isolation" is still going strong on the radio! Heck, even the main Rock station here in Georgia, Project 96.1 had the single placed at #2 on Saturday so tomorrow it could very well be #1 for the station.
A snippet from the press release:
“Mark, Scott, Brian and I want to convey our sincerest gratitude to everyone who supported us at radio and helped get “Isolation” to number one. After slugging it out for the last 7 years it’s amazing to finally get to experience something as cool as this. Thank you all!” states front-man Myles Kennedy.
“Isolation” is just one of those songs that resonated with listeners immediately. We cannot be happier for Mark, Myles, Brian and Scott on their long overdue achievement and finally getting to #1. All of us at EMI are proud to represent Alter Bridge,” adds Bill Carroll, Senior Vice President, Promotion at EMI.
Ha, I'm a VERY happy Alter Bridge fan right now. Four years of supporting these guys and they are finally getting their due. Call me crazy, but this means the world to me right now. Congrats to Myles, Mark, Brian, and Scott!
