Cloth Diaperin' Daddy

I feel myself a very blessed girl. :) John and I are such a "team." It is such fun just to spend time together, doing whatever needs done. He always takes such interest in whatever I'm doing and wants to know all about it. He loves the fact that my parents gave us a K-Tech Kitchen Mill for Christmas and now we can grind our own wheat. He thinks it is the neatest thing that I'll be able nurse our babies and says he will do whatever he can to help make it easier on me when the baby is born. He enjoys reading the why's and why not's about anything I talk about and can become quite passionate about a topic himself. :)

Yesterday our baby bedding arrived, so we spent most of the day setting up the baby's room. Then we started looking at diaper websites and LJ posts regarding diapers... which led to a couple of hours of both of us reading article after article on anything from cloth-diapering, to nursing, to slings, and everything in between.

Soon John was saying, "This Maya sling sure looks nice.... think you'd like it?" and "How many hemp doublers do you think we'll need for our Chinese prefolds?" (As he searches a website... whispering to himself...) "Now, let's see.... how do we work these Snappis?" "What kind of detergent will we need for the diapers? Is this kind more natural?"

He was having me print off articles and bookmarking websites. I think we covered every topic there is... home birth, circumcision, co-sleeping, solid foods. We were comparing prices of the diapers we wanted at a few different websites when he found this Missionary Diaper Grant program at cottonbabies.com.

Now you have to understand... my husband loves missionaries. He says that if we aren't out on the mission field ourselves, we should be supporting our missionaries as if we were. :) So when he found this, he just couldn't get over it. I looked at it with him, we both thought it was really neat and then I went into the other room for a minute. The next thing I know, my husband is on the computer, signing up for CottonBabies' web forum and leaving a comment about how impressed he was by this. (This is the very quiet, non-talkative man who has probably never "posted" anything online in his life. He loves computers and is a computer instructor, but anything that resembles a forum, message board or LJ, he laughs at!) He now says that we will get all of our cloth diapering supplies (and anything else they carry that we need) from this company, and he is even considering doing a registry with them (for diapers, a sling, etc) even though we both highly doubt that people would use it, just so that other people will see the website. :) He is more into all of this than I am!! How thankful I am that we can be "on the same page." :)
