[Not expecting a teenage girl to offer her flowers, of all things, Hawke is a little startled - but she accepts it, regardless, because okay that is kind of cute.]
That is a thing that humans do, yes, though it's not always flowers. [she grins] This isn't something your... people do, I take it?
[She shakes her head.] Back home, people weren't as peaceful and welcoming. We lived by a strict hemospectrum too, and I was pretty much at the bottom.
The fun thing about gifts is that you can give someone just about anything... within reason, of course. Don't go handing out wyvern dung or dead flowers; that wouldn't be very cheery at all. [she pauses thoughtfully] I have a friend back home, a pirate captain - didn't have a ship, though. An actual boat is a bit outside my budget, so I found a miniature one instead. She loved it. It's the thought that counts, I suppose.
...Hemospectrum? [The term is a foreign one to her, but the context can help her try to make a guess at it:] Some sort of caste system?
I understand. I don't think I can give bigger gifts yet. Maybe when I learn more, I'll figure out how to make better gifts. The mother unit of my hive wants me to bake with her. Maybe I should partake in it.
Food is always an excellent idea. After all, who doesn't like eating? I know I do.
The... color... of your blood. [wat] Now that's new. Last I checked, everything had the same color blood. Human, dwarf, mabari - you name it, it was red.
Eating is quite enjoyable. And the things she wants to teach me are very sweet. I think people like sweet things. I do.
From my home, we have different blood color. Mines one of the lowest. I have rust colored blood. It would make sense why hemospectrum is a new word to you since I know that blood color doesn't apply to most others.
Sweets are quite popular, yes. I'm a fan of cupcakes, personally.
So you'd be considered a peasant by those standards, then? A shame that it's so far out of your control. [She frowns; being born with an unfortunate color seems akin to, say, being born with magic in her world. Uncontrollable, and unfair. :c] You seem cheerful enough despite your lot, however.
I'll keep that in mind! I want to do all sorts of things while I'm here.
Pretty much. But I don't mind. I have friends who're all over the hemospectrum. The empress to be doesn't discriminate against anyone either. She's my friend. I guess there's no reason to be upset when I still had a lot to be happy about.
