How many of you saw the original The Tomorrow People made in the 1970's on BBC and shown in Australia on ABC tv?

I SO wanted to be one of these children/young teens.

Many years later it was revived in the 1990's and an Australian 'actor' (term used loosely here) from Neighbors (Played Todd Larsen, thankfully killed by a car crossing the road in ( Read more... )

Haven't seen it no... but I do keep hearing of it. I actually thought it was Australian but I was probably confusing it with something else.

No, definitely English. If you click the link, it will tell you all about the 1970's (which is the one I fell in love with) and the 1990's version, both made in England.

I always wanted to 'break out' when I hit puberty!

yeah, I know it is now. I have got it confused with something else that some British people on a forum I'm on keep going on about... :)

Pretty easy to do.

I always thought that in some ways, it was based on a John Wyndham novel called The Chrysalids which I remember reading in the early 80's when I was about 14 or so.

...and the audio plays are mostly good. Plus, it still has an active fandom....(they are planning a con for 2008.)

I remember it, though I didn't watch it much.

Whereabouts near Geelong are you from? I grew up in Geelong, around the same time frame (I was born in 65). Them was the times.

lol Long time ago I grew up in Ocean Grove.

Went to OGPS, then QHS, finishing in 1984. How about you?

I haven't been in Victoria for many years, are you still living down that way?

I grew up in Newcomb, went to Newcomb PS and Newcomb High, finished in 83. However, my wife and several of our best friends went to QHS. My wife and one of our friends finished in '82, while another transferred to Newcomb to do her HSC in 83 - which by a tangled route is how my wife and I met, fell in love, tra-la ...

We lived in Portarlington for years, then moved to Tassie nearly 3 years ago.

ahhh You may have known some people I grew up with - the ainsworths (Lyn, Tracey, Peter, Mark) and the Cafferelli's (not sure of spelling I never really KNEW them, but of them) and Andrew Blunt - he and I were born on the same day, 1 year apart and our parents both worked on the railways and were great friends)...

I'm pretty sure I'd know many of the people your wife went to school with. I loved school for some odd reason (even though I was always bullied).

I think it's pretty cool that you both met through school.

I love The Tomorrow People. I tried to watch the new one when I was in college and it didn't have the same appeal, though it was kind of fun seeing Danny John Jules not being a cat.

I keep hoping to have the money for the audio adventures because I used to have a huge crush on John.
