Hello everyone. I've been lurking for a bit, but I've looked up one recommendation that someone made (and enjoyed it) and am going to comment on that and some other previous entries in a minute.
Here's my two cents, however.
Does anyone remember the cartoon C.O.P.S (Central Organization of Police Specialists)? It's from 1988-89, and it's absolutely brilliant. My sister and I have been talking about this a lot over the past few days as we re-watch the episodes we have on a 22-episode official-release DVD.
This show is not related in any way to the reality TV show "Cops" (on FOX, I think?). When this was in reruns in the 1990s, it was renamed "CyberCOPS".

The team's leader, Bulletproof, is a Federal Agent who is called in to the fictional Empire City to figure out a way to thwart a crime lord named the Big Boss, especially after the latter's recruitment of criminal genius Dr. Badvibes. Bulletproof decides that the local police force isn't entirely up to the task and assembles a team of specialists from around the country to focus on capturing "the big boss and his gang of crooks." ;)
Here's the closing theme, which is a roll-call of all the COPS and crooks. I love the names of these characters.

There were also toys and a comic series made. According to what I've read
here, the cartoon and the comics were made to promote the toys. In the view of the author and in my own opinion, it should have been the other way around - toys and comics to support the TV series ;) There were also a few PSAs - public service announcements - made, with characters telling viewers about the dangers of (for example) riding with drunk drivers, playing in the street, flashing cash, or being involved in vandalism.
I mentioned a 22-episode DVD set. That's good, but considering there were 66 episodes produced altogether it's not really enough for the fans (from what I can tell; it's certainly not enough for me).
Here's a petition that needs as many signatures as possible to get the complete series out on DVD, if you're interested. Apparently the only reason the whole series wasn't released was due to poor sales.
If you'd like a review of the DVD and more information in general, check out
this video.
Has anyone out here heard of or seen this?
