(I followed your link over from sf_eats, as you might guess!)
...well, I've never had an americano from Barefoot, but they've had some of the best cappuccinos I've ever had, and their straight espressos can be quite good, too. That sounds almost as if someone who really didn't know what they were doing was back there -- which I'd find unusual, although I'm sure there's a first time for everything. I've liked just about everything I've had from Barefoot save their straight drip, which is okay but nothing to write home about. (I make great drip coffee at home from their beans, so I'm not really sure what's going on there.)
I've had Blue Bottle Coffee and didn't think it was any better -- although to be fair, I've never had it actually from BBC, just from a couple places that serve BBC, like Bittersweet over in Oakland. Ritual Coffee is probably Barefoot's equal, but it'd be hard for me to say one is better than the other. Granted, I live in San Jose, so actually getting to Ritual is something of a ritual itself -- I haven't had much opportunity for serious comparison.
Thanks for the reply. I've heard nothing but really good things about Barefoot. Of course I'm looking forward to trying again. I really only drink americanos regular coffee (drip/french press/etc), so I have no cappuccino experience.
Some coffee shops and coffee drinkers have different interpretations of americanos. I should try something else on their menu. I'm curious about making Barefoot's coffee at home.
