I had a fun weekend in Cleveland and aside from a little drama here and there just to keep things spicy, it was a good time! I don't why I chose the word "spicy" but I'm gonna roll with it...
I had help my buddy Bump move in his apartment. I must say that you haven't experienced life until you move a couch. Couches never just fit through doors easily... they have be twisted and spun and there has to be at least 4 different conversations (you can have the same one multiple times) to determine A) if the legs can be removed (which they never can) and B) if it is physically possible to fit it through the door (which the answer is always yes... you just have to be creative). Bump's family is very "Type A" aggressive people and I'm laid back... so I just sit there and smile while they all freak out and yell at each other. But his family's awesome and they bought me food, so I can't complain.
Saturday I escaped the massive organization for a while to go see Harry Potter with Amy. I haven't read all the books nor have I seen all the movies... but I did enough research so that it all pretty much made sense. I REALLY liked the movie. I must say that I enjoy Harry Potter more than Lord of the Rings.
I do, however, have a couple problems... I feel that they often use magic when it's not necessary (like when Snape slams doors closed with his magic) and at other times don't use it at all when it seems like it would be rather helpful. In the whole sequence where Ron's house is on fire, Harry spends his time running after the bad guys (don't know their names). Why are they all running? I saw him fly on his wand in The Goblet of Fire... so I know he can do it... sigh... OK, so then the house is on fire and they're all just watching it... THEY'RE WIZARDS!!! Isn't there like a spell to put out the fire and fix the house? Dumbledore fixed up a house earlier in the movie... so that's my first issue. My second one is with Harry and that people doubt him. The issue isn't WITH Harry... but with people's reaction to him. He said Draco was going all evil and cursing stuff (again, specifics aren't my strong point...) and the professors acted like Harry couldn't possibly know that and was making an outrageous accusation... He needs to say, "I'm Harry F*ckin' Potter!! I just f*ckin' know!! Don't make Harry F*ckin' Potter slap a b*tch!!!" As Amy and I have discussed, the same thing applies to Jack Bauer on 24...
Saturday night was interesting... I couldn't sleep... so I slept like 30-45 total going from a couch to an air mattress to the floor to eventually sitting on the deck at 6 am and then going to a 7:30 AM Mass. So I have this habit of not sleeping and then having to drive long distances the next day... I had another great drive back to Pittsburgh with my two bottles of Diet Coke, Michael Jackson, The Clarks, and DVE. I think the new Clarks CD makes me go emo and that's probably part of the reason why I spent most of the night overanalyzing my life... what else is new? Haha!
So I'm formally signing a contract for a part time job teaching Spanish in the fall at a Catholic elementary school. I'm still looking for a full time gig... but I'm happy to have something!
This video made my life. If you're a Pens fan, you will shed a tear... if you're a Wings fan, you might fling poop... if you know nothing about hockey, then who knows? I'm man enough to admit I teared up...
