Stranger in a Strange Land

Or California, to be exact. Demyx has been kind of a hermit most days. He goes to the bar when he can, but... it's difficult. He finds himself to be perfectly fine when he's alone, often. If he doesn't have to talk, doesn't have to think, then everything is okay. He sits on the couch or just outside and plays his music, or lets himself drift in the ( Read more... )

Lissar opened the door for Larxene. It was strange, not taking the dark paths...but she understood the precaution. She didn't even glance around at the place she found herself, just paced, eyes glued to Demyx. "Demyx" she greeted.

Questions after the forms of courtesy!

Demyx actually stood so quickly from the couch that he actually almost fell over, stumbling over his own two feet as he did.

"Larxene!" he crossed the room in a few quick steps, but stopped short. No hugs, right. His hands clenched in the air for a moment as he tried to think of what he was supposed to do with them before shoving them in his pockets.

"...It's good to see you."

And as tired and weary as his expression is, it's clearly true.

She didn't shift away from his aborted hug...nor did she move forward. If he'd needed it she'd have allowed, but she wasn't offering. "You've always had strange definitions of 'good'." she pointed out, letting her pacing circle both him and the couch.

"I am surprised you allow visits..." from Nobodies that was.

"It's not like there's many people who would take me up on them anyway. I'm really really glad to see you though. I thought you didn't want to talk to me anymore after..." he shrugged, and tried not to think about it.

He sort of followed Larxene but made sure to give her the proper amount of space. Like an adoring satellite.

"After...?" she prom, pted, eying him. She wasn't precisely sure what he was referring to, so it was best to ask. After all, she had no idea what Axel had been telling him about those first few moments.

"...After you passed me off to Lissar and said goodbye."

She tilted her head at that, thinking over wording. "I held you as long as I was able." she admitted.

"I rather assumed you would have had the intelligence to keep your enhearted self well clear of what you once were." hence the goodbye. "Is that not what garnering a heart is about after all? Starting a new life where the shadows cannot take you again?"

"That's not what it's about at all!" Demyx said, louder than he'd intended. He flinched at his own volume. "...It's about strengthening the relationships you already have, now that you can."

"You can honestly admit you will leave this world once you are able?" she asked, her pacing increasing for a moment as she waited on that answer. After all, most of his actual relationships, with those able to feel, were...here.

Or at the Bar as far as she knew.

"Of course I am. I thought you knew me, Larxene. Yuuno, he's working on ways to get the others Hearts, right? Tying them to ours once we get them, or something?" now that he asked he wasn't so sure. What if he was wrong? He looked at the ground, rubbing the back of his neck and the rest of his words were a quiet mumble, "...I need to go back, when I'm okay. So I can see everyone again, and try to help the Dancers."

"I knew Demyx." she admitted. "I do not know anything about enheartening. How it changes people or the consequences. I wanted..." the pacing shifted to slow once more.

"...to give you a chance free of assumptions." she shrugged. "And yes, I believe that is the path of the mage's research. I believe it is still mostly theory, but the Superiors find it viable."

"...I was worried, too." Demyx said, still looking at the ground. "I was worried I'd become someone unlikeable. I hope I haven't."

"You became a child." that was very, very strange. "A passing condition it seems, but strange." she admitted.

"And you know I cannot judge 'likeable'. Pose that question to the Princess."

"Yes you can. You'd rather spend time around some people than others, right?" Demyx asks, still looking at the ground.

There were no answers to be found in the floor. None at all. "Did gaining your heart break you of the ability to look people in the eye, Demyx?" she asked rather pointedly.

As for his question though "I am here." she pointed out. "After a single note, I am here."

Demyx flinched at her first comment, muttering a "Sorry..."

It was only Lissar and Larxene here right now, so he just... hugged himself, wrapping his arms around himself rightly. He didn't look up much. "I'm glad you're here."
