Raphael is from an AU where he and Mika are
human half-brothers who come from a dysfunctional family that they broke away from, and now live together. Raph's a brilliant medical student at the top of his classes and doing a hospital internship, but as he is responsible for paying tuition/textbooks/supplies as well as being the primary caretaker for his 15-year-old younger brother, he's also a professional escort and probably sleeping with half his professors to get by where he can. He's smart and very talented, but of course still a complete cynic. The family he and Mika broke away from is a stand-in metaphor for Heaven and all the angels that influenced their lives: they share a father who was smart, strong, but emotionally distant-- Mika in particular looked up to him a lot, even though he wouldn't give much attention in return. Raph's mother, their father's first wife, was cruel and manipulative and Raph had an experience with her when he was young that he refuses to talk about. He'll only tell Mika that he's lucky he never knew her. Mika's mother, the second wife, was much kinder and understanding and doted on Mika quite a bit. After she died, Mika sort of broke inside and started to develop his reckless temper and got into a lot of trouble. Their father just gave up on both of them after a time, never having formed any real emotional attachment to his children; add a slew of psychotic relatives (except for their Uncle Uriel, someone whom they don't see much of but generally consider to be a decent person) and once Raph was old enough, he immediately started working on building his own support system so he could get himself and Mika away from their family. At present, Raph's in grad school and Mika's in high school; they argue and fight, and struggle with money (and Mika's guidance counselor), but as far as they're concerned, the other is the only emotional support--and real family--that they have. There's some brocon in here, too.
Raph is also a bit of a hipster when he can afford it.
The others (Naoto Shirogane, Robin Sena, Saïx and Claire Stanfield/Vino) are either not participating or TBD. Will work this out later.
