So in case nobody heard or felt there was a goddamn superstorm on thursday night, the reason we lost our power. Over 1,000,000 houses lost power in what they said was the strongest storm in Seattle recorded history which of course is only about 150 years. We had winds in the 75-80mph range at our house and a deluge of rain that proceeded it. We lost power for almost 2 days. Congrats to the PUD for getting the juice on. Here are some pictures of a tree that fell in the neighbors yard that was about 2 feet from landing on maria and I while we were sleeping. Our room is in the building on the right, exactly on the end of the house right there.
and here is the same tree from the front of the house seeing it landed on the powerline to our house. I cut the tree out of the power line before the power got turned back on otherwise who knows what would have happened.
It was so damn cold as the next day the temperature dropped into the upper 20's at night and we had no heat. It sucks when you can see your breath in the house while you're laying in bed with a winter hat on and a scarf 10 blankets and long johns. It's like camping but not any fun.
The tree fell down on that thursday night during the peak of the storm at about 1:30am, as you can imagine it spooked the both of us out of bed with a huge CRACK and bang. I went outside with just shorts and a t-shirt as it wasn't that cold yet as the power had only been off for a few hours then. GOing in the back yard when there was no light from anyones house anywhere but there was still a glow in the sky. Transformers exploding and the howl of the trees dancing around and branches flying everwehre was one of the most amazing experiences of my life being outside for a moment in it coming right from bed. I will never forget that minute that I was out there. INSANE!
