I am such a fun Sunday school teacher. Let's just take a minute to acknowledge that.
Today's theme was 'Feeding The 5000'. So I brought in five loaves of bread, and grape juice, and two tins that were shaped like two large fish. I read it to them, or well we read it together, since some of them like to contribute, and so I ask if anyone wants to come read a snippet and they can, and I help them along if they're struggling. When we were done reading they got to open the tins, and in them there were cookies shaped like fish. They got two each and I had prepared icing and brought sprinkles and stuff, so they got to decorate their own cookies, and in the meantime I made sandwiches for them out of the five loaves so they were all fed.
After they were done with their cookies they got appropriate pictures to colour, and then we played a few games.
A few weeks ago we made stained glass images out of this stuff that was kind of like glue paint that they could squeeze out over templates on plastic, and then peel off once dry, and stick to the window.
Although now I feel like I've raised the bar really high for myself, and I'm not sure what to do next. I don't want to disappoint them. What could be fun?
They're great kids, ages ranging 6-8. I want to come up with good, fun lessons plans for the next weeks.
