YEAH THUNDERBOLT'S A GREAT ELECTRIC ATTACK TIL YOU GET GROUND DOWN BY A MAROWAK whata April 13 2010, 05:14:48 UTC
Backstory:
Once upon a time Red grew up in Pallet Town. Green was his next-door neighbor, they were bros, everything was cool. He was raised by his mother and may have caused some trouble for Professor Oak and his aides, seeing as how he lived only a few feet away. As he and Green grew older, they got more and more competitive ("hey I bet you five dollars you can't eat a bug" "........you're on") until they sort of turned into each other's rivals (you know, lots of teasing). Red loved Pokemon. I guess you could say he... lived in a Pokemon world. /removes sunglasses

When Mom decided he was old enough to go off on his own, he didn't waste any time running face-first into the patches of tall grass she always told him to avoid. Luckily, Professor Oak caught him before he risked being Tail Whipped to death by a Rattata. He gave Red a Pokemon and sent him on his Very Own Journey! But Green was Green and went NO I'M GONNA BE THE VERY BEST, took a Pokemon as well, and ran off on his own excellent adventure. As soon as Red arrived in Viridian City in hopes of scoring a few Poke Balls, the shopkeeper gave him a package to deliver. To Professor Oak! Once he returned, he was given his Very Own Pokedex. Damn it he was gonna catch 'em all.

In the process of expanding his Pokedex, he made his way to Pewter City. OH MAN! ROCKS! A MUSEUM! Just look at all that science. The road leading out of town was blocked off and in order to pass, Red had to earn the Boulderbadge. That's how he met the ROCK-SOLID POKEMON TRAINER Brock. Totally kicked his butt and earned his badge, of course. They traded Geodudes. Red set out to Cerulean City and traversed Mt. Moon--

BUT WAIT. Who were these guys running around dressed in black? Why were they trying to steal fossils from in the mines? More importantly, why were they getting in his way!? Of course, stealing Pokemon from other people is bad and wrong so Red intervened as best as a kid with low-level Pokemon can intervene. The criminals high-tailed it out of Mt. Moon and Red kept on truckin'. He made it to Cerulean City, had a pretty awesome fight with Misty, won the Cascade Badge, and went mad with power made his way up Nugget Bridge, the only available path forward. The name of the game was he had to defeat five different trainers and he would be able to pass (Green was not one of those trainers but he barged in anyway). SURPRISE he beat them. The man at the end of the bridge was a member of Team Rocket and tried to recruit him, but Red wasn't having any of that crap. Exploiting Pokemon for profit and evil? Aw hell no. That Rocket Grunt got his clock cleaned, man.

Oh and then they robbed a house. Great job.

Red did not like Team Rocket very much.

He continued on to Vermillion City, battled Lt. Surge for a Thunder Badge, and won. Then they swapped manly war stories, which was Surge bragging about not dying and Red smiling and nodding. With the path to Saffron City was blocked off. Thank goodness there was a dangerous cave leading to the creepiest town in Kanto!

Red made the trek through Rock Tunnel and took a rest in Lavender Town. Something about Pokemon Tower bugged him, but when he and his Pokemon went in to investigate all they saw were G-G-G-GHOSTS. They couldn't be caught and it was totally creepy and one of them blocked progress anyway. He was definitely coming back later.

He kept on keepin' on until Celadon City. After defeating Erika, rumors were flying all over the city that Team Rocket was behind all those crazy Game Corner prizes.

So he kicked their butts again. This was his first encounter with the Boss at the time, Giovanni. After his defeat he ran away like a pansy fled and left behind a valuable prize. A PRIZE THAT WOULD LET HIM SEE GHOSTS. He went all the way back to Lavender Town and put some spirits to rest. He also rescued an old guy from Team Rocket. Man who kidnaps old men.

DON'T YA BUG ME WITH CATERPIE FOR A FLYING TYPE THE WIN'S EASY whata April 13 2010, 05:16:04 UTC
Anyway, he moved on to Fuchsia City, home of the Gotta Catch 'Em All Safari Zone. He caught some Pokemon, found a man's dentures, and it was cool. He also defeated the resident Gym Leader there (Koga) before trekking back to see if he could get into Saffron City yet. He threw a bottle of water at one of them and RAN FOR HIS LIFE

Once inside, imagine his surprise when he found the city full of Rocket Grunts! It was not a very good surprise. They were blocking the Gym and taking hostages. That was no. Good. It didn't take much detective work to discover that all the hubbub was happening in Silph Co. (THEY MAKE POKEBALLS AND LOTS OF OTHER NEAT-O STUFF). He went in and declared that he was there to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and he was all out of gum fought his way to the top, just in time for another heated showdown against Giovanni. Red drove Team Rocket out of another city and beat Sabrina, its Gym Leader.

He then Surfed across the seven seas ocean to Cinnabar Island oh god no why did he sail on the east side what was he going to do with 300 HM01s, where he was forced to run around a run-down mansion for a key to unlock the Gym. He defeated Blaine, too, and then went back home for a while. Because that last Gym in Viridian City was still locked-- OH NO IT WAS OPEN NOW.

HE WENT IN

GIOVANNI WAS THE LAST GYM LEADER

This last Gym battle was important. If he won, not only would he earn eight badges but Team Rocket would be disbanded. No more stealing poor, innocent Pokemon and selling them to unsuspecting gamblers at Game Corners for outrageous prices? No more stealing from old folks? No more poaching Pokemon for materials? Man he was determined to win that one more than any other challenge so far. And he did. Giovanni kept his word and he was outta there.

With Team Rocket gone, it looked like Kanto was back to normal. He took his badge with honor and proceeded to Indigo Plateau, where he once again kicked ass and took names. OH NO HE WOULD HAVE TO BEAT THE CHAMPION.

HE WENT IN

GREEN WAS THE CHAMPION

Green had been trying to cockblock his progress throughout his entire journey. Granted he kicked Green's butt almost every time Green challenged him, but he was faster than Red and he at least deserved a while in the Champion's seat. When the time came, Red beat him and took his place at the Champion of the Kanto League.

...Well... He spent a while as Champion before he decided that glitz and glory wasn't his sort of thing. He stayed long enough to see Green take over Viridian Gym and see the Elite Four shuffle a little, but after much deliberation he handed the title back to Lance and went on to greener pastures.
Like Johto!
He traveled across the land searching far and wide and took on the Gyms there, with much success. His escapades were basically already legendary all over the two regions, and he wasn't too big on publicity. Legend has it that somewhere in Johto lies a mountain chock-full of the strongest wild Pokemon known to man. Ever on the quest to become a stronger trainer, Red climbed it. With his bare hands, probably. God.

For at least a year or three, Red lived on top of Mt. Silver, training his Pokemon to be the best they could possibly be. After a few months, it seemed like news traveled fast, because trainers began trickling in. Those that made it to the top would challenge Red to a battle, and they almost always left the mountain empty-handed. During his time on Mt. Silver, it looked like every Gym Leader in the area was disappearing. SUSPICIOUS. Red caught the news off of a couple of trainers that had challenged him and left the mountain, fearing the worst. Was Team Rocket back and thirsty for more?

No, he found out after some frantic Flying around. They just moved away. While he was in town he found a lot of fliers for some fancy-pants school called Smash Academy miles and miles away, and, well... If all the cities in Kanto were promoting it, it was probably worth checking out. So he did! And here he is.

GOOD LUCK WITH MUK AND ITS POISON GAS. ONE WRONG MOVE AND IT'LL KICK YOUR GRASS whata April 13 2010, 05:17:28 UTC
Anything Else?: did i fool ya 8)c I-I'M SORRY.

Carol's shoes are too perfect for me to fill. ;_; Red's slate is wiped clean, as far as previously attending SBG goes.

On the subject of Pokemon: Since this is a Brawl game and Red is the Pokemon trainer, instead of having Venusaur and Blastoise he has Ivysaur and Squirtle. Charizard stays! Please app them all. You know you want to. It is also up to any apper to decide what said pogle has been doing before their arrival.

I'll also append headcanon (like "one time Erika's gym burnt down so Red helped fix it" or "one time Red and Morty totally went out for smoothies and camped out in hopes of finding Ho-Oh" or "Charizard was his very first Pokemon and he wuvs it vewy much") as necessary. B)

In-Character 1st person writing sample (journal):
[there's one right here!]
"Dearest mother,

I have completed my enrollment at Smash Academy. I hope to get used to the school as quickly as possible and lead a healthy academic life. But...

I'm surrounded by people that, frankly, scare me. And I'm kind of freaking out."

...Hello. I'm Red. I'll be starting here after the break.

I've heard rumors that a lot of the gym leaders from Kanto and Johto have relocated... I guess I wasn't expecting to see you all in the same place. How's the League doing, anyway?

In-Character 3rd person writing post:
Something was bugging him.

It wasn't the weather -- near-volcanic islands and snowy mountains never bothered him much, why should the spring? He shouldn't be intimidated by anybody in this school at all. Red has climbed mountains, beaten crime syndicates senseless, gone up against monsters that could have snapped him in half like a twig...

But there he was, worrying about whether his mother was panicking or not over him. It was almost funny.

He adventured long before the invention of fancy Pokegears and cellphones, and he would probably never have one. So he stared at the first telephone he'd seen since leaving his mountain, like this decision would mean life or death. He knew that was probably a possibility. She was going to kill him. After staring at it for a while, he finally picked it up and dialed a number.

"...Mom?"
