At the beginning of time, Arceus created all of the Pokemon universe. She created Earth, then humans to live on the new planet. Arceus then realized that she would need help watching over this new universe. She created three eggs, one glowing a shade blue, one glowing a shade of pink, and one glowing a shade of red. All three of the eggs hatched at the very same time, creating the dragon trio that were assist Arceus in watching over the Pokemon Universe. Out of the blue egg hatched Dialga, out of the pink egg hatched Palkia, and out of the red egg hatched Giratina. After they had grown up enough, Arceus assigned them each one task. Dialga, the blue dragon, was to watch over time, Palkia, the pink dragon, was to watch over space, and Giratina, the red dragon, lastly, was to watch over the different dimensions of the Pokemon universe.
When Giratina was created, he was, like most newborn Pokemon, very small. After a while, he was beginning to learn how to use his dimensional teleportation powers more and more. Eventually, when he was testing the limits of his powers, he accidentally created a new dimension. At first this new dimension was a blank, normal dimension, that was perfectly balanced with the rest of the Pokemon Universe. Giratina then decided that he would do something more with this new dimension of his. He named this dimension the "Distortion World". He then decided that he should do something more than just name this blank dimension. He first turned the Distortion World into a large, dark blue void, then created some land. The land was not just flat land, but went up at strange angles, and defied the laws of gravity that were given to most of the Pokemon Universe.
Giratina grew up calling this dimension his home, and took good care of it. He even spent most of his time in the Distortion World, adding new land to his liking. It was not until quite a while later that he found out that there was more than just his dimension to explore. Floating in space were various planets, created by Arceus. The planet Giratina found to be the most interesting was Earth, a planet filled with life. Although Giratina was told by Arceus not to go down to Earth, curiosity got the better of him, and he ignored Arceus' rules about not visiting this planet.
When Giratina flew down to Earth, he saw many wondrous things. The inhabitants of this planet, the humans, had progress very far from when they had been created, or so he was told. Earth had many machines that fulfilled various tasks for the humans. Giratina choked as he flew through a large cloud of smog. Apparently, these humans' inventions had their disadvantages. As Giratina flew through pollution cloud after pollution cloud, he began to dislike the Earth's sky. Perhaps if he flew lower, he would be able to avoid the pollution clouds. Unfortunately, as he flew closer to the Earth's surface, the humans began to point and scream, terrified by the shadow of a large Pokemon descending from the ominous clouds of smog. The humans' immediate reaction was to attack this large Pokemon. Giratina, angered by the fact that these humans were trying to attack him for no apparent reason, landed on the Earth's surface and began to attack back. Whole cities were destroyed as Giratina skipped to different locations on the Earth, attacking everyone. The humans panicked and cowered on the now ruined and ravaged planet as Giratina left for the Distortion World.
Arceus was angered by Giratina's actions. He was already punished quite often by being sent to the Distortion World to think about his actions. Now Arceus banished Giratina to the Distortion World. She bound Giratina to the Distortion World with a powerful curse, then left him there to be wiped away from the human's memories by time.

Thousands of years later, there was small dimensional rip, caused by a spar between Dialga and Palkia. Giratina, being the god of dimensions, noticed this small rip, and took the chance to escape. He searched, and, eventually, found the dimension rip. Of course, at the moment, it was much too small for even a Diglett could fit through. Giratina was about to use all his power to make the dimension rip bigger and fly out above Earth, when he remembered what happened thousands of years ago, causing him to be trapped in the Distortion World. Giratina glared at the small rip, his chance of freedom mocking him. He knew that if he tried to escape without thinking things through, he would just end up back in the Distortion World. If only there was a way to go down onto Earth without anyone- especially Arceus- noticing. Then Giratina remembered; he could use Shadow Force to sneak in the shadows. During his imprisonment in the Distortion World, the only special ability Giratina used were his ability to alter the landscape of his dimension, so he had almost forgotten about his other special abilities.
Giratina used Aura Sphere on the spall dimension rip, making it bigger, then immediately used Shadow Force to cloak himself in Earth's shadows. He planned on hiding on Earth, in the shadows, where nobody would notice him. He could even take this opportunity to learn more about the simple yet mysterious humans.
During Giratina's stay on Earth, he found out more about the humans and their planet by talking to various ghost Pokemon. He learned about the humans' silly need for technology, and how they used Pokemon for their own needs and entertainment. Some Pokemon seemed okay with it, calling the humans their friends. How low have Pokemon sunken since the creation of the universe? Some of them even depended on these humans.
Giratina continued to listen to news from various ghost Pokemon until, one day, a group of Shuppets told Giratina about a large and unusual academy, different from most academies. At first, Giratina didn't think of this bit of news as important, but the Shuppets kept coming back, and telling him more and more about this school. According to the Shuppets, even Pokemon were going to this academy, and most of the humans attending this school were unlike the other humans living on Earth. Eventually, he decided to ask around even more, until he found this academy, in the middle of Final Destination City. It was full of all sorts of interesting people, some of them not even human. He explored the area, including the city, and he decided that he would stay at this academy and find out what was so interesting about this academy, and why so many powerful Pokemon and humans had decided to live here. Unfortunately, he couldn't just come out of the shadows in the middle of the city. He snuck around the school grounds some more.

After a while of wandering around the school and getting used to walking in his human form, Giratina decided that he would disguise himself as one of the humans and try enrolling himself at this school. He would find out what was so special about this school, and maybe even try to enjoy himself.
Although Giratina found out that Dialga and Arceus were staying at the academy, he decided he would just face the two of them and not care that they would be upset at him for leaving the Distortion World. He decided, if anything, he would try his best to make the Dialga and Arceus' lives at the academy horrible, and, if they got too angry at him, Giratina would just have to fight them both. He would never back down from Arceus and Dialga and try to hide from them. The only choice he had was to stay at this academy show the two of them that he could do whatever he wanted, and would never go back to being trapped in the Distortion World.

So, you guys call this place Smash Academy, huh? I guess I'll stay here for a while and see what it's like. You guys should feel honored to be in Giratina, the Lord of the Distortion World's, presence.
By the way, you guys better not get on my bad side, unless you want to be completely obliterated. And when I say "don't get on my bad side," I mean you guys should listen to what I tell you guys to do, no matter what.
Maybe all of you guys will be able to entertain me.
In-Character 3rd person writing post:
Giratina transformed into his human form as he landed in front of the academy. He pushed the double doors open, wearing a look of "oh yeah I'm the best" on his face, and stood in one place as he looked around the academy's main room. Where was everybody?
Giratina wandered around the academy, being a jerk to just about anyone he met. After a while of exploring the academy, he chose to stay for a while, and let the people at this academy entertain him for a while.
Giratina eventually found out that Arceus and Dialga were staying at the academy. This would be his chance to finally show those two that he was much more powerful than them. He would challenge them to a fight when he got the chance, and never back down. In the mean time, he would get settled in to his dorm room, and perhaps get to know some of the people staying here.
