An album, a tv show, and a book, or two...
It's only been two months since my last update. That's awesome for me! I mean, granted, that last entry was a meme which said my writing style was similar to James Joyce, but whatever, it totally counts. ;) I seem to be in a writing mood, so I thought I'd take advantage of it and actually update.
Have been downloading a LOT of new music lately. I downloaded The Rescues new LP, “Let Loose The Horses” today, and decided I like it quite a bit. I wasn't all that impressed with the EP they released earlier this year, but loved “Crazy Ever After” so I decided to give this a listen. They keep getting better. Someone described them as a modern day Fleetwood Mac and I've decided it's true (without all the drama that came with all of the band members sleeping with each other). Everybody is a songwriter and gets equal singing time. There are newer songs, and some old ones, like a reworked version of “Break Me Out.” I like the the album as a whole, but the title track is definitely one of my favorites. I'm glad they also included “Follow Me Back Into the Sun.” It's the same version as their EP, which is good because that song doesn't really need to be reworked. Listening to it still feels like someone punched me in the stomach, especially the build-up that comes with the “Don't know how to leave you now...” line being repeated towards the end. We've all had those people that we break up and get back together with over and over again; it definitely resonates.
Almost finished watching season four of Psych. I really love this show. I think Shawn and Gus might be my favorite friend pairing to watch. I also, totally ship Shawn/Juliet. I mean, Rachel Leigh Cook was pretty cool as Shawn's girlfriend (I would totally want a girlfriend like Abigail) but there's something about Shawn's fear of actually following through with his feelings for Juliet that feels familiar and so I can't help but root for the guy, even with all his issues. I'm almost at the end and have yet to see Ally Sheedy come back as Mr. Yin. I know she's the villain again, so I'm assuming whatever she's got planned is coming up soon. I also have greatly loved all of the little digs they have been taking at “The Mentalist”all season. Love that show, but yeah, Psych totally had the idea first.
I've been in a little bit of a reading rut. This happens occasionally. I'm thinking of re-reading my Harry Potter series, mostly because I'm sad the end is coming up with The Deathly Hallows movie. At least, we'll have a second part to look forward to. Also, one of my Borders co-workers keeps bugging me to read 'The Strain” but I don't know if I'm up for another virus outbreak novel when I can't bring myself to continue “The Passage” since one of my favorite characters got killed off. Maybe I'll read that Andre Agassi autobiography instead. Tennis always cheers me up.
I've been sucked into Glee fic. Not the show, just the fic. It's the Rachel/Quinn pairing. Something about sworn enemies being in love with each other that speaks to me, I think, lol. Or, maybe I just have a weakness for Quinn's cheerleading uniform. ;) Still can't watch the show, though.
