A trip to the city together should have been typical: sunny, bright, fun-filled, and enjoyable. But it isn’t when as soon as the pair step off the train, Heechul starts to feel something’s wrong. He doesn’t say anything though, wanting to enjoy this day as much as possible.

He merely grabs Siwon’s hand and pulls him out of the train station until they’ve made it out onto the street.

Their trip is innocent enough, as they start by browsing some of the local shops. Brightly colored clothes catch Heechul’s eye (much to Siwon’s dismay) and he insists on going in to try them on. Siwon complies, deciding it better to let Heechul do what he wants so as to not create any conflicts.

But Heechul doesn’t realize that as he’s picking up items to put on for his own mini-fashion show, Siwon’s got his eye on something other than the store’s clothing. Heechul points out a free dressing room and tells Siwon he’ll be in there, getting dressed, to which Siwon replies with a half-hearted wave and zero eye contact.

Heechul doesn’t notice, too excited to, anyways. He disappears into the dressing room and Siwon’s starting to do things that would otherwise be frowned upon by Heechul.

When the older man comes out (clad in neon attire that look grotesque and spasm-inducing), he notices Siwon on the opposite side of the store floor, talking to the pretty cashier behind the counter. Heechul smiles, thinking that maybe he’s trying to buy something for him, or possibly haggling over the price of a piece of merchandise.

But he steps closer and can listen in on their conversation, seeing Siwon take out his cell phone. He hears the cashier giggle and knows just exactly what is going on.

He walks (or rather stomps over) towards Siwon, getting his attention with the clothing he’s wearing. He crosses his arms and glares, not saying a word but letting his clearly angry facial expression and gestures do the talking.

Siwon just smiles a coy smile, pretending that he’s doing nothing wrong and makes a remark about the outfit Heechul has on (vaguely insulting him in the process). Now more irritated, Heechul turns around quickly and hustles back to the dressing room. Siwon remains curious as to why Heechul seems so annoyed but shrugs and brushes it off as nothing.

That’s when Heechul comes back out, dressed in his street clothes and attempts to exit the store-without Siwon. But Siwon tries to stop him (much to Heechul’s shock) and pulls him back by the wrist. He faces Siwon, a scowl on his face and his eyes staring somewhere else (he refuses to make eye contact).

Siwon asks him what’s wrong, sounding genuinely concerned about Heechul’s reasons for such anger. This just further irritates Heechul, who pushes him away and makes his way down the block. Siwon stops him again, asks him what’s the matter, sounding more and more concerned about the other’s well being.

Something about his sincerity prompts Heechul to answer his question.

He explains, telling Siwon he didn’t appreciate being ignored in favor of “some skank” behind the register counter. He sounds pissed, Siwon is smart enough to notice, but that doesn’t stop the other from asking just what was wrong with that.

Heechul makes a sound that mimicked the sound a cat would make if they were choked. He screeches at Siwon, yelling at him about all the things wrong with his “wandering eye”. Siwon merely laughs, fighting off Heechul’s fists that are hitting him on the chest and shoulders.

He assures Heechul that it was harmless and that the girl meant nothing to him. He even states that he’s already forgotten her name and never did get her phone number.

Heechul remains unconvinced, putting down his arms and turning away from Siwon. Despite the scene they’ve created (many bystanders are watching their fight unfold), he continues to show his displeasure in theatrical ways. Siwon sighs, feeling the slightest bit defeated.

He tells Heechul that if he chooses to believe that Siwon is unfaithful, then he’d have no reason to stick around.

But Heechul isn’t ready to just let Siwon go, especially not when he’d be easily taken up by any of the pretty girls or boys who he could meet on the way back to the train station.

Not even an hour after they first arrived and both are regretting ever stepping onto that station platform.

He decides to be the better person and ask for forgiveness. He apologizes for the scene he’s caused and for assuming the worst of Siwon; it was all a misunderstanding, he tells himself, trying his hardest not to let it bother him anymore. Siwon reminds him that he had no bad intentions and that he just wants to put it behind them so they can enjoy the rest of their day, worry-free.

Heechul agrees and the two embrace, much to the pleasure of a few people standing nearby who begin applauding the couple. Heechul is embarrassed as is who Siwon who gives the bystanders an awkward nod before dragging Heechul away, by the hand.

But the trouble doesn’t stop there (of course, it doesn’t).

Lunchtime comes and they decide to go to a sit-down restaurant, even though Heechul feels a little apprehensive, granted that the waiter or waitress is attractive and, worse yet, flirtacious.

Siwon can see the unease in his eyes, but doesn’t say anything, merely responding by grabbing Heechul’s hand and holding it tightly. Heechul sighs, dreamily and puts his head on Siwon’s shoulder as the two stand, waiting for the hostess (a plucky teenager, too young for Siwon, Heechul thinks) to come seat them.

She smiles at Siwon, obviously admiring his good looks but is startled when Heechul clears his throat loudly. She smiles at the both of them and lets them know that their waiter will be with them shortly. Heechul can see that she’s still got her eye on Siwon even as she makes her way over to her post.

He mutters curse words under his breath, but stops when Siwon says his name. His smile is enough to make Heechul feel at ease, again.

But then the waiter comes and introduces himself as “Sungmin”. He’s decent-looking enough to make Heechul grab at Siwon’s hand, demonstrating their status as a couple but Siwon pulls his hand away. He needs it to open the menu, he says. He throws the waiter a smile and a wink, which gets the waiter blushing (he’s seriously blushing, Heechul thinks).

Siwon makes his drink order, as does Heechul. The waiter, however, doesn’t immediately leave, remarking on how much he likes the watch Siwon is wearing. A conversation breaks out, with discussions of Siwon’s hometown (or their shared hometown) as well as the weather and their reasons for coming to the city that day.

But Heechul notices that, not once does Siwon mention him in the conversation. In fact, neither of them even seem to notice his presence, much less his relation to Siwon.

Once again, Heechul’s feeling neglected, betrayed even. He tells the waiter that he should be doing his job, getting their drinks, and not socializing at such an inappropriate time and in such an inappropriate way.

The waiter hangs his head in shame, stating that he’ll be sure to get their drinks as quickly as possible and that he’s sorry for neglecting his duties. He disappears from sight, inducing a smug grin from Heechul who feels he’s done his duty as Siwon’s significant other.

But Siwon isn’t happy. He glares at Heechul, scolding him for acting so rudely to an innocent waiter, and chastises him for believing once again, that Siwon had a wandering eye.

Heechul at first, feels guilty. But his pride overtakes him and pretty soon, he’s fighting back. He explains that it hurts when he is not only neglected in terms of his presence, but also neglected as a part of Siwon’s life, being his boyfriend and all.

He’s done enough to make Siwon feel guilty (finally) and gets an apology out of the younger man that sounds genuine and sincere. He tells Heechul that the conversation got away from him and that he would’ve mentioned Heechul if there had been an opening.

Heechul doesn’t feel like fighting anymore, and waves Siwon off, telling him it’s not a big deal. He tells him to forget about it and that they should both just enjoy their meal.

Siwon agrees and when the waiter comes back, Siwon tells him that he had forgotten to properly introduce Heechul. He states that he is the younger man’s boyfriend and that the two of them are on a date of sorts, in the city today. The waiter looks visibly upset upon realization who Heechul is and puts the tray of drinks down, declaring it’s his break time and that he’ll send a replacement.

Heechul remarks on how rude the waiter is acting, after he’s disappeared. Siwon just chuckles, joking that Heechul should consider himself lucky to be the date of the other man. Heechul gives him an “are you serious?” look that causes Siwon to clear his throat and look back at the menu for a meal option.

A replacement waiter comes (this one much less attractive and much less interested in the couple as a couple) and takes their lunch order, stating he’ll be back quickly.

The rest of the meal goes off without a hitch, and they end it with a clinking of their glasses, making a toast to their day in the city and revealing wishes for an otherwise stress-free day.

That didn’t stop the newspaper boy on the street corner from chatting up Siwon, nor did it stop the girl at the bus stop who seemed to really like Siwon’s hair. Of course there was also the cab driver who thought Siwon was a model, and there was also the girl at the makeup counter in the department store they decided to take a look around in.

Heechul has about all he could stand, and refuses to speak to Siwon, choosing to give him the silent treatment. With arms crossed and a displeased look on his face, he walks ahead of Siwon, nudging people out of the way as the sidewalk gets more crowded.

Siwon is calling out to him, but Heechul doesn’t look back, too pissed off to do so. But he’s not paying attention to what he’s doing because he ends up bumping into someone, so hard that he ends up on the floor, on his back.

His eyes open slowly and he sees a handsome face staring back at him. The stranger asks Heechul if he’s all right, to which he replies with a shy smile and a simple nod of the head. The stranger asks again, making sure that Heechul was absolutely okay and that no damage was done.

Heechul just smiles and nods but looks down when the stranger points out a rip to his shirt (his expensive, one-of-a-kind designer shirt). The stranger fusses, repeating apologies and promising to get the hole fixed or at the very least, giving Heechul the money to replace it. Not letting him know the shirt’s importance, Heechul waves him off, telling the beautiful stranger that he need not worry about it, that it was just a secondhand gift he’d gotten from a friend he no longer speaks to.

He doesn’t mention that it was Siwon who had bought the shirt for him. In fact, he doesn’t mention Siwon at all.

The stranger introduces himself as Geng (Han Geng to be exact) and explains that he’s on business from China, his home country. His accent amuses Heechul who finds him overall, attractive. So attractive that he seems to have forgotten all about Siwon.

That is, until Siwon comes barreling down the sidewalk, pushing through the crowd to get to Heechul. He asks Heechul if he’s okay, explaining he had seen the collision and that he was worried about him.

Heechul just gives him a plastered-on smile and pretends he doesn’t know Siwon. He asks Geng if he is busy and if he would like to stop for coffee, to which Geng eagerly accepts. But Siwon isn’t so accepting.

A startling scowl appears on his face and his eyes are fixed on the back of Heechul’s head. In a low, booming voice, he tells Geng to get his hands off of him and to back off. Geng is stunned by Siwon’s assertiveness but before he has a chance to retaliate, Siwon lunges for him and attempts to punch him. But Heechul is quick to stop him.

He yells at Siwon for overreacting and tells him it wasn’t anything, only to stop himself from continuing. He realizes his mistake, and gives a look to Geng and apologizes but he’s already got a boyfriend.

Geng looks at the two of them, shakes his head and disappears into the crowd. Heechul looks at Siwon who is noticeably calmer, despite still being angry with the older man. He doesn’t say anything but Heechul reminds him of what the entire day has been like, from his point of view.

Siwon’s angry look dissipates and he nods his head, knowingly. He genuinely apologizes to Heechul, telling him that seeing him with another man made him so unbelievably jealous, he couldn’t control himself. He also tells him that now he understands how Heechul must have felt the whole day when people wouldn’t stop coming between them.

He pulls Heechul close to him and gives him a loving kiss. He tells Heechul how much he loves him and how he never wants someone else to come between them, on both ends. Heechul says the same, putting his head on Siwon’s shoulder.

The two stand on the street corner, in each other’s arms as the world passes them by.

Later on, they decide to go out for dinner, and despite an eager waitress’s attempts to get to know Siwon, the latter never takes his eyes off Heechul, stating that he’s not interested in anything but being with him. Heechul blushes and gives a small apology to the waitress who looks at the pair, and states she had no idea they were a couple. She gives them a nervous smile and remarks on how good they look together before apologizing for not taking their order right away.
Heechul thanks her for the both of them. He chuckles at Siwon who smiles wider at him.

He randomly tells Heechul how much he wants the night to go on. Heechul nods and agrees, but is taken aback when Siwon slyly suggests the pair get a hotel room so their date in the city can last a little bit longer.

At first he’s left speechless, but he quickly tells the waitress to wrap their meals in to-go boxes and that they’ve decided to move this party to a different location.

The pair walk out shortly afterwards, hand in hand, to a nearby hotel where they wake up the next morning, side-by-side, undressed and in each other’s arms. Heechul warmly states that this was better than he could have ever planned himself.

Siwon shows his agreement by kissing Heechul again, and suggesting they continue with more recreational activities. Heechul giggles and the two slip under the covers, the sounds of their kisses echoing in the hotel room.

THE END

A/N: This is for moonfox35 aka Ash. I was originally going to write something a lot more angsty (and a lot more smutty :x) but I decided to scrap the idea since I wasn't sure how Heechul in the army fic would be received both by the person this is dedicated to as well as other readers. Anyways, I heard this song today for the first time and I thought it fit SiChul, especially after I found this GIF. Anyways, hope you like it!
