"Dignity and forbearance"? Right...like that's going to be a piece of cake.

I rather think Dumbledore expects too much of us sometimes. Just because we're all in a same disaster doesn't mean some of us are going to suddenly turn a new leaf and become saintly in behaviour.

He's right about the not pestering Prefects bit, though.

Not ironing, irony.

b) An expression or utterance marked by a deliberate contrast between apparent and intended meaning.
