"Hurry up and wait" is the unofficial phrase of the Army (along with BOHICA). It's in full effect where Bill is concerned. Last Tues., Bill was told that the waiver for his hearing loss had arrived, and he could go and do paperwork and swear in at the armory in Kingsport. He did all of that and left Friday at 5:30 a.m. for Smyrna, TN for JAG paperwork and medical exam. Then he would be off to Camp Shelby, MS for 4 weeks of training, then off to the Big Sandbox in the Middle East. Alas, it was not to happen that way. When he got to Shelby, his hearing waiver was not there, so his entry paperwork was invalid. He had to come back here and got here Sat. night. Back to square one. He will re-enter the Guard sometime this week, and THEN go to Smyrna and start over again. He is annoyed because he wants to GET THERE and be with his brothers in arms. I'M annoyed because I had said good-bye and was getting into the "military wife" frame of mind. Now we have to go through "good-bye" all over again....like ripping a band-aide off. Bleh. Still, I am SO proud of him and his willingness to serve. And I must remember Who is in control.
Otherwise, life is good. I got my free jewelry from the Premiere Party I hosted with Sis. It's quite lovely, and shiny baubles make me happy. C is continuing to do very well on her medicine, and I think the therapist is helping her as well. Having someone to talk to besides me is good for her. Mom is doing well, and her foot has completely healed. She is moving about well, and has even gone out with friends for lunch a few times. Sis has become a member of a card-playing club, and she is having a great time: they meet once a week to have dinner and play different card games. I love seeing my family happy and healthy, and my stress level is greatly reduced when they are.
Ok, that's it. I'll keep you posted on G.I. Bill's progress!
