Just got back this afternoon from an overnight trip to Charlottesville, VA for Bill's company Christmas party. It was quite nice, as always, and we were seated at a table with friends and family members of the company's owner. Lots of laughter and interesting conversation ensued. The food was catered by the Omni Hotel, where the event was held. Crab puffs with horse radish dip were served as starters, and the buffet boasted a Ceasar salad, crab and shrimp salad, hard rolls, sauteed green beens, roasted potatoes, rice, oysters, steak, salmon, and lobster bisque. Dessert included raspberry cheesecake, a brownie/cake confection, and an incredible creme brulee. It was a wonderful opportunity for Bill and I to have a nice evening out...something that is a rarity these days. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to his boss's family, esp. the youngest son (who has aspirations of being a chef) and the girlfriend of his oldest son. Loved seeing them all again.
After a lovely brunch this morning, also at the Omni, we drove back to East TN, getting here about 3:30 p.m. We picked up Chelsea from her stay with Mom and Sis, and headed back home. I am currently doing laundry and later will be ready to drive Bill back to his carpool meeting place at 4 a.m. Monday morning. Sis has been kind enough to stay with Mom one more night while I get the house cleaned and the rest of laundry done tomorrow. I may also take a moment to breathe. Thank you, Sis!
As for Mom, she is doing better. She is able to walk a bit more, but we are still monitoring her closely so that she doesn't get over-confident in her abilities and return back to square one of her recovery. Thank you for all the prayers and good wishes concerning. her health. She was thrilled to learn about all of the people out there in cyberworld that care.
Ok, off to bed. 4 a.m. tends to arrive terribly early.
