I just received an email from my dear friend Todd. He will be having surgery tomorrow to remove move a tumor found in his large intestines during a colonoscopy. A few inches of his colon will have to be removed. To say Todd and I go way back is an understatement. We met in 3rd grade when he threw up on my desk. Quite an impression.... We became fast friends, and even our mothers became close. We joined band together in 6th grade, and from that point on we were together all the time. I was at his house, or more often he was at mine. (Todd was an only child, and he really liked watching my sister and I fight.) He even flew up from Atlanta to attend a college formal with me, since I was boyfriendless at the time, and I really wanted to go. Todd has lived in Atlanta since the late 80's, but every time he visits TN, it's like he never left, and we are just as close as we ever were. Please keep Todd and his parents in your prayers. His surgery is at noon tomorrow.
In less dramatic news, I had a really nice dinner with the Army Wives tonight. T and M are great friends whose husbands were deployed to Iraq with Bill. They were a great source of support and laughter while the guys were overseas. Like me, they believed their husbands were 10 feet tall and bullet-proof, and together we toughed it while being so proud of our soldiers. By this time next year, its likely that T and M's husbands will be back overseas. Of course Bill is out of the Guard now, but once you've been through a depolyment, you share a bond with those that have, and I hope those gals know they can call on me or Bill anytime.
I'm a bundle of nerves....like I didn't have enough to worry about with the election.
