A BIG thank you goes out to
alcesalces for the beautiful birthday card she made for me. Those of you that have seen her card-making efforts know that she is extremely talented. I am very honored to be the recipient of a card by her, and it is safely tucked away with my scrapping supplies to inspire me. I have made cards before, but I bow to the master! :D
Also I thank my LJ friends for allowing me to post about the March on Life without the fear of being torn into on LJ. I think most of us just don't reply when a post is in abject disagreement with our ideas. I may not reply to posts with which I disagree, but I do read them, and they always make me think. I hope that is the case with my friends and my posts as well. The level of respect here is one I am unaccustomed to, a nice surprise. I hope I generate that same level.
And now for something completely different: I just bought The Brian Setzer Orchestra's CD Wolfgang's Night Out. If you are a fan of swing music and/or classical, run -- do not walk -- to your local Barnes and Noble or Border's (or that dying breed: a mom and pop music shop) and get it. The track titles alone are clever, as are the arrangements. The idea, as the title would suggest, is to put a swing spin on classical favorites. While there are one or two tracks I would have arranged differently, the CD as a whole is delightful. C loves it, and my dad would have been thoroughly enchanted (it would've reminded him of his Coast Guard Band days).
