The rest of the night had been quiet and nice. Gus had driven his parents home, had stopped for a nice cup of cocoa and finally some warm Christmas feelings of togetherness. It was really late when he finally got home and parked the car. The fact of his newly improved and respected adulthood had made him politely decline the offer to spend the rest of the night in his old room - he still had a point to prove here.
