Books:
Skin Trade - Hamilton: she is still wandering aimlessly, while there are a few good scenes it is just not worth it. IF anything when contrasted against Obsidian Butterfly it makes it just clear how far things have come off the rails.
Magic to the Bone & Magic in the Blood (Devon Monk) - somewhat formulaic but I like the characters and the magic system is interesting. Urban Fantasy. I've read the first two and I'll likely pick up the third. Strong female protagonist, rich controlling father, unknown magic abilities, love interest, and caring friends. Stir and mix...
Night Train to Rigel (Timothy Zahn) It is Zahn, strong male characters beating the odds, guts/talent trumps money/power. Predictable and logical "twists". If you like Zhan you'll like the story.
The Family Tree (Sheri Tepper) I either like Tepper or I just cant can't follow her at all. This is one of the good ones (IMO). Interesting characters, dual world plot-lines following different sets of characters. It is a little rough around the edges in a couple places but overall very nice and at times thought provoking story-line.
The Steerswoman (Rosemary Kirstein) - decent writing but a little simplistic in the characterizations at time. The series was recommended to me and I found the first one enjoyable. Reading the second now. Really kind of light and fluffy but fun.
Archform: Beauty (LE Modesitt) I liked its but splitting up the book to show it thru so many characters cuts down on some of the character development that I enjoy in Modesitt's work. I like the contrast between the different characters though and that makes up for it.
Finished the JNCIA study guide and working thru the JNCIS guide
TV:
Very sad they canceled Life.
Started watching Primeval again but will likely stop again soon.
New Season of Burn Notice is pretty good.
I watched a bunch of Castle on Hulu it is not bad.
Rewatching Due South with C.
Food:
Heritage India - Service was decent food was ok but a pricey. Maybe I just prefer my indian a little more hole in the wall. I do know that is I am paying for poppadom I expect it hot from the oven.
Bistrot du Coin - mixed feelings. Service is hit or miss though the food is pretty decent but priced accordingly.
Misc:
King Lear - well done production. I don't normally like the modern versions but this one was quite well done.
Shenandoah Park - finally got to visit this year. Lovely trip with some really nice views.
July 4th - great party and once again got to see a starburst go off at window level of the apt thanks to the pyros by the bar.
