If you can't be a poet, be the poem...

Yeah, I've been stupidly busy as of late - I hate the way everything seems to pile up in one go, and your time just gets eaten up.

Sooo, anyway, what has been eating up my time? Well, mainly archery and final assignments.

I was recently voted in as the new archery captain - it's proven to already be a lot of work and stress (Shillitoe is a fucking wanker, and now that I am over the indignation his arrogance caused me, I am very much looking forward to taking him down several pegs). It's not been completely bad - it's kind of flattering when the club says things like "evenin' captain", and I feel a strange sense of responsibility over them. I'm hoping that the year will get easier, or at least a little more positive. I've got a good committee behind me though, so that's very reassuring.

My progress in my archery in general has been steady - I'm hoping to do well at BUSA; my stamina should be fine this year, so lets hope I stay focussed on the competition. I'm going to try my best and that's it - that's all I can do really.

I've nearly completed my degree - I have a report to hand in tomorrow, and one exam (on Thursday), and then that will be it. It has seemed to have finished with a bit of a whimper to be honest, but ah well. Grad ball and graduation will probably be the times when it feels like it will have ended properly. I'm hoping that I have worked hard enough to pull my grade up to a 2:1 - if I haven't, I cant do my MA and that just really doesnt bear thinking about. I don't want to stop studying archaeology.

I'm going home at the end of this week - I honestly cannot wait; I havent been home since Christmas, so that's about 5 months...nearly 6. It's been a long time - I am so looking forward to just chilling out and recovering from everything. I'm a little concerned because my mum will be having an op. just before mid-june, and I wont be home afterward to look after her. But I had an idea of creating a "recovery pack" for her, something for her to be comforted/amused by post-op.

In other news, I've been dating a guy from one of my units - I don't know if anything will come of it all, but I enjoy his company very much. I think I'm holding back slightly because I dont want to risk getting it wrong again - I honestly dont think I could cope if I got it wrong again. I worry that my reservation may give him the wrong impression, and I'm constantly fighting the urge to run away whenever he suggests we meet up. At the very least, I've made a very good friend - anything else is just a bonus.

So that's my life at the moment - things are whizzing along at the moment, but they dont seem to necessarily be whizzing to anywhere. My moods have been extremely apathetic or tempramental, but I think that has been due to irratic sleep patterns - that's one of the things I'm looking forward to settling when I'm home.
