Nearly identical to my LJ posting, with some modifications...

...

Be very wary of the Maharaja Cuisine of India restaurant on Pine st. Both my friend and I received a mild case of food poisoning from that place a few weeks ago. This was the only place we were even remotely close to together.

I had a craving for Indian food that night and so I met a friend of mine there for dinner.  It's directly across the street from Rosebud on Pine.  The decor is worse than going to a Denny's and not really a place I'd ever go for a date, but I was just looking for food.  We ordered some pakora. spinach naan, and lab vindaloo.

The vindaloo was not anything like i was expecting. I love to eat vindaloo and this was horrible. It looked like they just opened a can of spaghetti sauce and mixed it with some small pieces of lamb and potatoes.  I have had some very good vindaloo at other places and this vindaloo ws nothing like it.  In fact the only good part of the meal was the naan.

Anyways, forgive the food spellings, i'm not going to check on them, I don't have the stomach for it... :P

One thing though, I see a lot of good reviews for this place.. but they are all based on the bar. How can you give 4 or 5 stars to a restaurant based solely on the bar menu? All of you who did so are lame. When people search for restaurants and look at the overall rating, they will think this is a decent restaurant which it is not.

If you want good food, go to Roti Cuisine of India near the corner of Queen Ann Ave and Mercer. If you want a good lunch buffet, go to Tandori Hut on 2nd Ave downtown.
