Does anybody want to write a little software for a tax write-off? My club needs some software and we are concerned about the tax implications of paying an individual for it (and jeopardizing our 501(c)3 status if its not done right). b) No. We have used an accountant in the past to get our books in order, but don't have her on retainer. She is a specialty non-profit accountant and very expensive. Our non-profit status is through our national organization and we file our taxes through them. We pretty much just send them a basic accounting and they handle the rest. I suppose we could call her, but then we would not have the money to spend on the software because the accountant would use up that budget line item :)
