Thank you. Yes, Draco's watch became the perfect way to define Draco's duality, a physical way to show which identity was in the forefront at any given time in the fic. Once Harry showed up, and it became harder for Draco to be 'Draconis', that's when the idea of changing the inscription on the back of the watch came about. I was so thankful for that brainwave. ;)

And you're right, I think part of what sent Draco into a temper was trying to prove himself, while at the same time having to rely on/be dependent on the interpreter for face to face dealings. It's not ideal, but it's the way things are for now, and it can be so frustrating.

If my memory from Sectus doesn't completely fail me, you work as an interpreter, don't you? I think your background (and/or careful research) is a part of what makes Draco's experiences in this fic so real and believable.

Wow. Great memory! Yes, I am an interpreter. That's why when DJ proposed the bunny for this I was all "Umm...I don't know." I wasn't sure if people would be interested, but the more I wrote, the more fun it was to explore my line of work through the characters. I also had to research BSL and the interpreting system in the UK, because I knew there were a few differences. My goal really wasn't to educate, but it was so wonderful to hear people say that they learned something from the universe, or that they now have a better understanding of what it means to be culturally Deaf.

I think it's one of the best things when a story educates without a raised finger. I love to learn things and particularly to gain new insights and perspectives, and this was one aspect I very much enjoyed in your story.
