Fic rec: Anyone for Scrabble? and Sardines
A little late to start (ahem, sorry!), but here are the first of many recs for November.
Title: Anyone for Scrabble? (on AO3) (also on LJ)

Summary: Draco and Harry enjoy a heated game of Scrabble.
Why I loved it: I always love a good eighth-year fic, and this story has such a simple but fun (and smutty, hehe!) premise. Also, I am tickled pink by the idea of McGonagall forcing all the eighth-years to bond over Muggle board games. Scrabble should be such an innocent game, but here it becomes the perfect vehicle for Harry and Draco to lead each other to less-than-innocent thoughts. And actions. I like Fr333bird's writing as she often manages to combine smut with sweetness, and this fic is no exception.
Excerpt (optional):
It was Harry’s turn to start, his tiles were less than helpful but he managed to come up with BUM on the starting double word score.
“But as bum is rude, that means I get to double it again, so that’s twenty eight points.”
Malfoy scribbled the score on the parchment they were using to tally. Then his slender fingers selected his tiles and laid them on the board, putting three letters carefully around the U that was already out.
“Suck,” he drawled in satisfaction, emphasising the final consonant. He definitely managed to make it sound very rude indeed. Harry felt uncomfortably warm and couldn’t blame the fire which wasn’t giving out much heat now. “That’s twenty eight for me too.

Summary: A Muggle parlour game during an inter-house unity night leads to Harry and Draco being very close indeed.
Why I loved it: As much as I like Anyone for Scrabble, it is the sequel Sardines that I really love. I had never heard of this game before, but love the idea of Harry and Draco squeezing into a space together. The UST in this is delicious indeed, and the whole fic is filled with Harry, squashed up against Draco but also his friends, trying hard not to get too aroused. Somehow, the fact that they have already got together once makes the attraction between them that much more heightened, and combined with the close quarters... just unf.

“Sardines,” Hermione’s voice rang out authoritatively. “The players take turns to hide while the rest of the group look for them. When you find the person who’s hiding, you hide with them while the rest of the group continues to search. When the last person finally finds the rest of the group, the game is over and another person takes a turn at hiding."
