Take the AirPairing(s): Harry/Draco, Ron/Hermione
Summary: Someone or something is attacking Muggles and leaving them for dead. Auror Harry Potter is assigned to the case, but with his usual partner unavailable, he is stuck with the worst, most anti-social, rude, and annoying Auror ever to walk the halls of the Ministry. Author's Notes: Hello, lovely prompter, I know you write more than most of the other authors in this fandom put together, and you can definitely write your own fics when you want something in particular, so it’s a bit intimidating to write for you. You seem to enjoy darker themes than I normally write and… yeah, I didn’t manage that, either. But I did tailor this fic to your prompts and it has plenty of action, and hopefully a bit of plot and a sprinkling of magical theory. I do hope you enjoy it. Happy holidays!
Additional notes: 1) There really was a tornado in London on December 7, 2006. 2) A bird is said to take the air when it seeks to escape by trying to rise higher than the falcon. 3) Eroe is Italian. 4) Many thanks to my lovely betas for shredding this and keeping it from crawling to 100k and boring everyone to death. :D
Why I loved it: Where to begin? This is one of the best stories I have ever read. The magical theory described, the spells developed where part of making the plot so believable and well thought out that even with poor character development it would still have been a good read. But there was so much more than just a good plot! There really is character development. The way Harry changes his view and really sees Draco is just beautiful. There are several OCs here and they are all interesting and part of the plot and part of driving this story forward, but it is the growing emotions between Harry and Draco that makes this story truly brilliant and absolutely wonderful. This story was incredibly intense, it has so much raw emotion that I just cried, it's not a sad story, it was just overwhelming. If you read only one story from HD-holidays 2011, it should be this one.
