What a wonderful story. I really enjoyed this - great characterisation, nice plot... all in all, just lovely. Draco is just exactly right, somehow and Harry is beautifully drawn. Thank you for sharing.

Okay first off, this got me so unbelievably excited. The feeling was reminscent of finding out when the seventh book was coming out.-->

"You still don't get it, Riddle, do you?" Potter said with scorn, and Draco could only stare. No one dared speak to the Dark Lord that way, no one. And yet, Potter didn't even look frightened. He was a battered and bloody mess: his hair was tangled and ragged, hanging past his shoulders, and there was blood on his face and neck and arms. But his sinewy body was upright and he faced the man who'd murdered his parents with more disdain than rage. Draco found himself with a grudging respect for the man's sheer audacity.

Beautifully worded. Audacity. Mm, perfect.

Also, this moment will be engrained in my mind now:

"No, Teddy," Potter whispered brokenly, his voice thick. "I'm not your dad. I'm not your dad."
With those words, Potter began to cry.

Because, that's how it would've happened. I truly believe it.
I loved this -->

Hagrid gave him a few softly spoken instructions, and between the two of them ( ... )

Wow, what an involved, engaging, fascinating story you created! There is so much to love about it - the way you write, your beautiful descriptions, your perfect pov not the least of it :-). I seriously admire the way you made real what it must mean for a pureblood wizard raised like Draco to be reduced to live off a relative's mercy. The shame of that moment when he was lead into the Hogwart's Express was so palpable, in a way harder to take than the abuse by Dawlish later. You made so much out of that ingenious prompt, to have Draco's sentence be working for Hagrid: the way Draco slowly got close to the magical creatures was so sweet and touching. I loved that you had Chloe the unicorn allow him close because he was gay. And your H/D-plot! Starting with Draco's awareness of Harry at the Battle of Hogwarts, at his trial, that half-conscious memory of Harry touching Draco's lips, the scene at the stream, Draco's unability to betray Harry - so believable, so pain-wrenching. You had me in tears several times. And I am still stunned by ( ... )

I absolutely loved this story. And the symbolism of Fawkes rising from the ashes at the end was just perfect. Well done!

This is so gorgeous and heartbreaking and life-affirming, all at once. You have a deft touch with descriptive writing and make your characters so real and human that it seems as though they are truly alive, really there. I feel as if I can reach out and touch them, and... whoosh. Your writing is fabulous, and this story makes me so very glad you are a part of fandom. It is beautifully written and such an emotional story that my heart was in my throat while reading it. Spectacular!
