The Food Fair has now ended and we're pretty sure everyone has had an EGG-cellent time! While we wait for the anon reveals, let us interest you with some information and stats for this year's Food Fair:

  • This brings up the total to 63 fanworks, making the H/D Food Fair 2018 our biggest Fair since 2010!
  • There were 56 authors, 8 artists, 1 artist/author and 1 podficcer.
  • One of the authors wrote two entries for the fair and 3 of the works we received resulted from collaborations: 2 stories are the products of author-author collaborations, and there is also one artist-author collaboration.

  • As can be seen from the table, most of the authors love making our readers blush and squirm! Nearly 60% wrote R or NC-17 rated stories!
  • In the meantime, artists prefer to make our viewers smile by creating G or PG-13 rated romantic (or *cough* steamy but totally worksafe) artworks.

  • As always, the favoured medium for art this year is Digital - there were twice as many artworks created using photoshop (and similar art programs) than traditional pencil works. There were also 4 comic submissions this year, 1 more than last year!

Breakdown of timeline-related tags:

Post-Hogwarts (46) or Post-Second War with Voldemort (5) | Hogwarts Eighth Year (7) | Alternate Universe - College/University (2)
Harry Potter Epilogue What Epilogue | EWE (44) | Harry Potter Epilogue Compliant (5)

  • There were some fanworks that can be placed in any era and/or are non-linear, but the most preferred Era was without doubt Post-Hogwarts (or adult H/D Post-Second War with Voldemort), out of which 5 stories are epilogue compliant, and the rest - art included - are EWE.
  • We also see 7 Eighth Year and 2 University Era EWE stories as well.
  • However, there were no Non-Magical AUs this time around.

  • Draco is more likely to work in a food-related but non-food-making capacity compared to Harry. Draco has dabbled in numerous food-related fields such as Tea Specialist, French Vineyard Owner, Hotel Owner, Restaurant Worker, Health and Wellness Spa Guru, Bakery Investor and more uniquely, Dinner Lady and Human Sushi Plate.
  • Harry and Draco are nearly equally likely to be chefs, or bake bread, cakes, or desserts, for a profession. However, Harry is more than twice as likely to cook at home for his friends and family, or as a hobby/stress-relief. In contrast, there are 2 stories featuring Draco as a terrible cook.
  • There are 7 fanworks that revolve around food issues, eating disorders or hunger/starvation. 4 of them features Harry and his relationship with food due to his abusive past with the Dursleys, 2 are about Draco dealing with tastebuds-related curses, and 1 is about hungry food forager Draco.
  • Our most popular food trope yet is Sexy Food and/or Eating! With Harry doing most of the eating and slurping! Harry being handfed by Draco! Harry being supplied with sweets! Harry licking custard filled doughnuts! Harry drinking milk/lactation, once straight from the source *ahem* Draco! And the filthiest of all, Harry giving a chocolate dick some sweet sweet loving in one story, and getting a carrot stuck in his butt in the other!
  • Draco is no slouch at this department too of course - he has bathed sugar quills with his tongue, he also services the foods in other interesting ways. Draco riding a giant cucumber is quite a sight to behold.
  • Surely the most unusual "sexy food" highlighted in this Fair is lube. Enough lube to last Harry and Draco till our next fair!
  • There are 5 fanworks that focuses on Harry and Draco dining together, 4 fanworks that features magical ingredients or drugs (i.e. a rare plant, aphrodisiac mushrooms, and magical apples in two very different stories), 1 fairytale fusion starring a cannibalistic witch, and 1 story allows us to see Harry and Draco's relationship through the lens of a sentient kitchen.

We would love to invite you to comment this post with your favourite unusual food theme or topic, and share your favourite moments of the H/D Food Fair 2018! Also, please show all our beloved artists and authors some love by commenting or leaving kudos to their entries. (View the anon masterlists sorted by chronological order and trope order!)

We will be posting the anon reveals this Saturday (24 November 2018) and we will also be closing and announcing the winners of the Guessing Poll and Food Fair Cup on the same date!

Much love,
Your H/D Food Fair Mods
