Drabble:
Draco opened his eyes; the morning sun was just beginning to kiss the horizon, edging slowly into the room. He sat up and passed a hand over his face, rubbing the sleep away from his eyes.
Harry stood at the foot of the bed, tugging his shirt on over his head and making it stand on end. Draco blinked, his hand falling to rest in his lap and asked, “Potter?”
Harry stiffened. He pulled his shirt down until the hem met the waistband of his pants before he turned around. “Malfoy,” he said, his tone a bit cold, as if last night had never happened. His eyes told another story though, holding enough hope in them to goad Draco into continuing.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
Harry didn’t return Draco’s look; his eyes darted around the room, as if trying to find an easy escape route. “I… didn’t think you would have liked me being here when you woke,” he said, staring determinedly at the bedpost.
“Didn’t want….” Draco repeated softly. Snippets of the last month ran through his head: Potter’s sudden appearance at the pub, the small -and not so small - arguments, drunken confessions and apologies, and last night - the accidental kiss that had led to so much more….
“Come back to the bed,” he whispered as the first chorus of birdsong began.
Maximum rating: NC-17
