The Corridor of Requirement

Detention over, Harry consulted his Map. Of course, he thought when the Map showed Draco pacing. The Room of Requirement.

Minutes later, Harry found him. “Draco?”

Draco turned towards him, eyes sombre. “It won’t open.”

Harry sighed. The castle could be stubborn. Luckily, so could he. “I’ll try,” he said, clasping Draco’s hand. “It has to let me in.” Together, they paced and a door appeared. “Shall I come with you?”

Draco shook his head. “He was my friend.”

Inside, Harry saw a stocky figure in shadow. He nodded. “I’ll wait here.”

“Thanks.” Smiling, Draco kissed his cheek, then entered.

Harry patted the castle wall. “He’s a professor now,” he said, tone conversational.

The castle didn’t respond. Harry sighed, settling, cross-legged, onto the floor. “It’s been decades since the war.”

A wall-torch flared to life. Harry smiled. “We’re even married. I’m headmaster, he’s deputy. I promise, he regrets the Fiendfyre--”

As he spoke, items began appearing, and by the time Draco emerged from the Room of Requirement, Harry was sitting in a comfortable chair, feet up on a footstool, sipping tea. “How was seeing Crabbe?”

“Cathartic, actually.” Draco sighed. “Do you think Hogwarts’ll ever forgive me?”

Rising, Harry smiled, taking his hand. “Eventually. Let’s go home.”
