“This is it?” The corners of Draco’s mouth were pinched, and his brows were drawn together.

Harry leaned toward him, allowing their shoulders to touch. He looked out over the WWII memorial, the vibrancy of the grass a contrast to the connotations of white crosses and dark marble.

“All the lives, weren’t they worth more than this?” Draco asked. “How can they think that wood, stone, and some pretty flowers are enough?”

Harry winced as the memory of the elaborate, wizard war memorial at Godric’s Hollow surfaced. “They know they aren’t. Nothing could be.”

“This is just how they remember.”
